This unique post will work across the breadth of the lifespan including neonatal intensive care, children’s hospital, adult medicine, and adult intensive care. This role is expected to require development and therefore opportunities such as video fluoroscopy training and tracheostomy training will be offered. SLTs who have more adult orchildren’s experiencewill be given the opportunity to upskill in the less developed clinical area.

This role will be an integral part of both the adult and paediatric teams and will have opportunities to expand skills and leadership development in both.

We are a large and dynamic Speech and Language Therapy service of around 100 staff, working across all service areas in Derbyshire.

You will be a HCPC registered and be mobile between locations.

They will be proficient in their abilities to deliver high-quality, evidence-based practice, with a proven ability to provide leadership and support within an SLT service.

You will work alongside a friendly team of SLTs, SLPs and SLTAs, with line management support from an SLT team leader, as well as having access to clinical supervision and relevant CPD opportunities.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant Haematologist , to join our friendly and enthusiastic team at UHDB. This is an 11-PA replacement post joining a team of 11 consultants overall.

In-patient therapies are provided on a dedicated, 18 bedded, haematology ward, providing BCSH level 2b care, including induction treatment and salvage therapies for high grade lymphomas. We have our own Acute Unit for unwell patients (CTAU) run by advanced clinical practitioners with medical supervision and shared with Oncology. Our department currently accommodates 4 specialist Registrars from the East Midlands Deanery and 3 specialty Doctors. We have also an established teaching program for medical students from the University of Nottingham and overseas.

Currently, there is liaison with the regional transplant centre in Nottingham for autologous stem cell transplant, and Birmingham QE Hospital for CAR-T therapy. Part of our 5-year plan is to establish our own autologous transplant and cellular therapies program. An interest or previous experience in transplant and cellular therapies would be desirable although not essential for this role. The apppointee will have the opportunity to shape the future of the growing haematology service. This is an exciting time in the evolution of haematology care at UHDB and we would be pleased to hear from any candidate wishing to consider this role and discuss ours and their vision for this.

As a Head and Neck fellow, he/she would be expected to attend Head and Neck clinics, work up patients and present at Head and Neck MDT and get involved with overall management of head and neck patients.

The Maxillo Facial Fellow will undertake general and specialist clinics. They will undertake minor surgery lists under local anaesthesia and assist consultants undertaking major head and neck, orthognathic and TMJ surgery.

This is an appointment to cover from Feb 2025- February 2026. Possession of the MBBS, GDC, plus full GMC registration with Licence to Practise at the time of application is essential.

The elective work involves daily ward rounds, time-tabled sessions for day case, theatre and outpatient clinics. Whilst it is not a recognised training post, this post is well supervised and there are opportunities to learn and develop skills.

This post will participate in the OMF On-call rota.

Children’s Emergency Department:

This is a purpose built department opened May 2009 that sees over 45,000 attendances per year. It won the CHKS award in 20015 for the UK’s best emergency department and the co-located Observation unit has been used as a practice example by the RCPCH when rewriting the standards for SSPAU’s. Most recently the Emergency department won the RCEM award 2017 for the Best Emergency Department team. We are an accredited Grid training site for Paediatric Emergency Medicine and are a founder member of the PERUKI clinical research network. We are active in this network and are currently participating in 3 trials.

We function as a single front door for all GP, 999 and self-referrals, and operate as a one stop shop. Clinicians in CED have admitting rights to the general paediatric ward. There is no separate children’s admissions unit. Our observation unit has 4 beds and one cubicle and allows us to observe certain patients for up to 8 hours. We also run an ambulatory care service from this unit.

The successful candidate will be part of a cohesive team involving head and neck surgeons (OMFS & ENT), orthodontists and allied health professionals. The post would offer opportunities for the fellow to further their knowledge, experience and skills in head and neck surgery including major head & neck resection and reconstruction (including micro surgery) ,
Trans oral robotic surgery, trans oral laser surgery, salivary gland surgery (including endoscopy) and other aspects of OMFS (orthographic , trauma etc).

Full Registration with the GMC with a licence to practice at time of application is essential.

The fellow is expected to work closely with specialist trainees in OMFS & ENT and dental core trainees.

The fellow is also expected to provide second tier on-call cover.
The role can be tailored to the training needs of the fellow including cross specialty exposure, if required.

As a Head and Neck fellow, he/she would be expected to attend Head and Neck clinics, work up patients and present at Head and Neck MDT and get involved with overall management of head and neck patients.

The Maxillo Facial Fellow will undertake general and specialist clinics. They will undertake minor surgery lists under local anaesthesia and assist consultants undertaking major head and neck, orthognathic and TMJ surgery.

This is an appointment to cover from Feb 2025- February 2026. Possession of the MBBS, GDC, plus full GMC registration with Licence to Practise at the time of application is essential.

The elective work involves daily ward rounds, time-tabled sessions for day case, theatre and outpatient clinics. Whilst it is not a recognised training post, this post is well supervised and there are opportunities to learn and develop skills.

This post will participate in the OMF On-call rota.

The research nurse will establish sound working relationships with the multi-disciplinary teams in the above specialities and be actively involved in the recruitment of patients into a range of research studies, managing their own caseload as well as supporting colleagues.

They are expected to be self-starters, able to deal with the varied activities associated with the successful initiation and delivery of studies to meet time and target deadlines.

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Consultant in Colorectal Surgery.

Based at the Queen's Hospital site in Burton on Trent, the colorectal department provides a full range of inpatient elective and non-elective operating services, outpatient clinics and day case facilities.

There are currently 6 Lower Gastrointestinal surgeons based within the unit, and a further 3 Upper Gastrointestinal surgeons, supported by a team of registrars, specialty doctors, junior doctors and clinical nurse specialists. We are currently exploring the possibilities of developing robotic surgery on this site. We run a TAMIS and abdominal wall reconstruction service.

We are looking for someone experienced in laparoscopic colorectal surgery and a high standard of clinical skills. Experience of pelvic floor disorders would be an advantage.

This post will be based across Queen's Hospital Burton and peripheral hospitals in Tamworth and Lichfield delivering a range of outpatient and inpatient services, both on site and at outreach clinics. The post holder will also provide emergency cover as part of a 1 in 8 consultant rota.

The duration of this post is 6 months from August 2024 with the possibility of extension upon departmental needs. This post is a pure 6 month neonatal paediatric post but the appointed is expected to join in all the postgraduate paediatric activities of the unit.

The post holder is responsible for the day to day of patients under the care of the consultants in the NICU, Labour Ward and on the post-natal wards thus experience is gained in the assessment and management of ill neonates within the neonatal unit and the normal and common problems of newborn on the postnatal wards. Daytime support and supervision is by consultants and one of the middle grade doctors who are assigned to the neonatal unit.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is recognised as a Local Neonatal Unit providing intensive care services within the Trent Peri-natal Network, undertaking medical neonatal intensive care. It has 24 cots including 7 designated for critical care and 17 special care, and is adjacent to the delivery suite and theatres, serving approximately 6000 births per year. There are currently 5 Consultants committed to the neonatal service, working ‘service weeks’ with a Consultant ward round each day.

There is a separate EWTD compliant SHO rota for the Unit including ANNPs and specific middle grade cover through the day and evening. Out of hours middle grade cover is currently shared with paediatrics with Consultant back up.

The appointee will work a full shift rota as set out in the sample timetable. This will form part of the rota with other junior trainees. Final timetable will depend on the interest of the candidate, 50% of daytime working will be within the area of interest. Out of hours working is based on a full shift rota with 6 slots covering nights on NICU, weekends and twilight shifts.
