Role Description

The company are looking for a candidate with deep knowledge of the Finance domain. You will have strong change management experience gained in previous finance transformation roles. A background in the energy sector would be beneficial but not a necessity.

This role sits within the Systems stream of the Finance Transformation programme, a key initiative of which is implementation of Oracle FCCS (Financial Consolidation & Close), which forms part of the Finance Systems Strategy and Roadmap.

Main Role Purpose

The post holder will be responsible for facilitating the Consolidation & Close System design, developing and maintaining finance team, IT and other stakeholder engagement, and to support the business process change required to implement to all impacted systems. About the Role

Base Location: Hybrid flexible working, however our preference is that you will be based in one of our key UK offices, which includes but is not limited to:- London, Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Inverness, Reading, Havant.

SSE has recently embarked on a 3 - 5 year, £20m Finance Transformation Programme spanning all areas of the business to support SSEs strategy and will transform our Finance teams across its systems, processes, and people.

During its initial phase, the Finance Transformation programme delivered a series of path-clearing activities to simplify processes, systems, data, and controls that will underpin a successful implementation of SSE Finances future Systems and Data Roadmap.

Now entering the first of two implementation phases of the Programme, the focus will be on delivery of a Finance Systems and Data roadmap. This is pivotal to our success in achieving the objectives of Finances "Digital Journey" and a high-profile enabler of SSEs ambitious growth strategy.

We are seeking a Data Manager to join our new Data and Reporting Team, to lay the foundations for, and drive the evolution of, our Finance Data Governance model. The post holder will be key to shaping and delivering our Data Strategy, supporting the development, implementation and the establishment of a framework that will deliver good data quality and sustainable data management across SSE Finance.

Reporting to the Finance Transformation Data Lead, the post-holder will be expected to proactively engage with the Corporate Data CoE team, Finance Transformation programme, Finance/other Business SMEs, and data governance teams within other Corporate functions and Business Units. Their key roles and responsibilities will be:

- Responsible for driving and supporting the delivery of data awareness training & education to promote a data-driven & enriched data culture.

- Responsible for embedding good Data Governance standards into Finance 'BAU activities, monitoring progress and reporting on adherence.

- Monitoring and promoting compliance with respect to internal and external data policies and standards.

- Establish strong knowledge-sharing practices and data quality management solutions.

- Maintain the Data Issue & Risk Register and report to management on progress against data quality metrics.

- Manage the Finance data & reporting 'demand management process improving access controls around to data elements.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Degree level educated or equivalent in Business Management, Project Management, or any other related equivalent.

- Experience working with complex datasets.

- Experience developing models to solve problems in utilities or other asset-based. industries a distinct advantage.

- Understanding or experience of using Informatica Axon/EDC products or any Data Governance and Metadata management tool.

- Extensive knowledge of data lineage and metadata management practices, and strong experience of the application of Data Quality dimensions to Data Quality management.

- Broad understanding of finance data, systems and reporting solutions would be advantageous.

Technology awareness across a broad range of technologies, including:

- Previous experience of Informatica (Axon, EDC) would be advantageous.

- High level of proficiency with general toolsets including Excel (Power Queries, Pivot), Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Teams.

- SharePoint Online.

Brightwork have an excellent opportunity for a Finance Administrator to join our client on a temporary basis at their office in Glasgow starting in January.

Joining the organisation at a peak period for the organisation, the successful candidate will work within their fast paced Finance Department.

Duties will include:

• Supporting with all aspects of the finance department administrative and credit control tas
• Acting as a point of contact for the finance team - negotiating payment plans
• Processing and reconciliation of sales invoices
• Responding to relevant customer enquiries
• Updating various systems and spreadsheets whilst maintaining accurate records
• General administration duties as required such as high volume scanning and data processing

The successful candidate will:

• Be able to demonstrate a background within a customer service focused administrative role and ideally have experience within Collections/Credit Control.

Job Title: Transmission Accountant - Investment

Salary: £38,700-£58,100 + Performance related bonus+ a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

This role will be responsible for supporting the financial aspects of the Capital Investment programme, including our Offshore investment programme, at an exciting time of growth within the industry. As a natural monopoly, our Transmission business is subject to regulatory oversight by the industry regulator, Ofgem. As such we have a 'Regulatory Contract (referred often to as a Regulatory Licence) in which we are required to comply with a number of obligations and underpins our financial and business performance drivers.

We are currently in the third year of this 5 year price control for Electricity Transmission (RIIO-T2). We have a long term plan to take the business forward as we look towards RIIO-T3 and deliver our RIIO-T2 commitments to support the overall Group. We are on course to invest over £7bn in our RIIO-T2 period and have committed to delivering a significant spend beyond, to our net zero 2030 goal by delivering large offshore transmission projects. This is part of delivering an ambitious 5 year business plan that will continue to support the transition to a low carbon energy world for the UK and the pathway to net zero emissions by 2050.

This role will require the candidate to support Transmission Offshore Projects including Joint Ventures and Capital Investment programme working closely as part of a small team with Transmission Investment Finance Managers and other key internal stakeholders. This requires significant financial discipline to underpin decision making, ensure strong financial compliance with policies and drive value and efficiency. The need to understand the nature of our regulatory obligations under our RIIO price controls is necessary to succeed in this role. Working closely with the Investment Finance Managers and Head of Finance for Transmission Investment for Transmission Investment will be key, as well as providing the support and challenge to finance and operational colleagues.

The individual will be required to work on their own initiative, understand complex issues, problem solve and convey this succinctly and clearly to inform decisions and strategy. This is a varied and challenging role with other responsibilities:

- Providing insight and understanding the risks and opportunities in capital projects while ensuring compliance with our obligations and corporate governance.

- Coordinating, collating, reviewing project forecasts and delivering reports identifying the key financial drivers behind projects.

- Completing month end closedown activities and preparing and presenting management accounts.

- Representing finance during project review boards, working closely with project teams, and being a key member in the delivery of projects within budget and on time.

- Completing capital investment appraisals and reviewing business cases to aid in optimising the capital investment programme

- Continual improvement and evaluation of existing processes and practices.

- Supporting other finance functions with project financial data and Joint Venture Company information to support the Transmission Business and wider group finance functions.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Appropriate Accounting qualification (ICAS, ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA)

- Have experience and knowledge of working with capital investments or corporate finance would be beneficial but not essential.

- Experience of creating and delivering reports to finance and non-finance colleagues, conveying messages which can be complex.

- Be pro-active and diligent in their approach and be willing to undertake challenging tasks sometimes beyond their 'comfort zone.

- Be confident and articulate with the willingness to challenge and support colleagues and the business in a constructive and supportive manner.

About the Role

This role will be responsible for providing support to the Thermal business within SSE as the company progresses through an exciting period of growth for our Thermal business to be part of a Net Zero economy.

Working as part of a small team this role has a strong emphasis on financial control with an emphasis on all aspects of month end, as well as supporting the annual accounts process and fixed assets.

This is a varied, flexible, and challenging role with primary responsibilities amongst the following:

- Support Thermal Accountants and Finance Manager with month end analysis.

- Accrual and prepayments journal posting.

- Ownership of several Balance Sheet reconciliations.

- Support team with the production of Annual Accounts and assist in external audit.

- Work with wider Thermal team to assist in embedding controls required around SSE's implementation of SOX controls.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Part qualified accountant preferred (ICAS, ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA); consideration will also be given to candidates who have not started professional qualifications.

- Be pro-active and use initiative whilst always providing a high degree of support and patience when dealing with all stakeholders.

- Able to communicate messages clearly to different internal and external stakeholders conveying messages which are at times complex.

- Competent IT skills - especially MS Excel. Experience with Power BI reporting would also be advantageous.

- Able to work to tight timescales, at times under pressure and yet deliver to high standards.
