Are you a skilled telecommunications professional looking to take the next step in your career? We are an established electrical company expanding into the telecommunications industry, and we’re seeking a talented Telecommunications Technical Officer to join our team!
About the Role:
As a Telecommunications Technical Officer, you will play a key role in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting cutting-edge telecommunications systems. You'll collaborate with a dynamic team to deliver top-tier services to both commercial and residential clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation, maintenance, and testing of telecommunications equipment, including satellite systems, IP networks, and structured cabling solutions.
Troubleshooting complex network and system faults, including signal degradation, equipment failure, and connectivity issues.
Configuring routers, switches, and wireless access points to ensure seamless network performance across various environments.
Terminating, testing, and certifying structured cabling systems to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Collaborating with the electrical and telecommunications teams to integrate communications systems with power systems and ensure minimal disruption to ongoing services.
Conducting comprehensive site surveys to assess infrastructure requirements and providing technical reports to management and clients.
Working with both fiber and coaxial cabling systems to deliver high-speed, reliable network connections.
Ensuring all installations meet safety and quality standards in compliance with regulatory and industry guidelines.
What We’re Looking For:
Technical Expertise:
Proven experience with installation and maintenance of satellite systems in commercial settings, including dish alignment, signal testing, and troubleshooting.
Strong understanding of IP networking, including routing, switching, subnetting, and VLAN configuration.
Experience working with fiber optic cabling, including splicing, testing, and certifying connections.
Familiarity with industry standards for structured cabling systems (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optics) and the ability to certify and document test results.
Knowledge of network diagnostic tools and troubleshooting methodologies for both wired and wireless networks.
Experience with radio frequency (RF) systems, including signal transmission and reception.
Required Certifications:
Advanced diploma or trade qualification in telecommunications and network engineering
Open cabling license
Working at heights certification
"Provide telecommunications services safely on roofs" certification
First aid and CPR certification
Asbestos awareness certification
Construction white card
Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with excellent communication and customer service skills.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to various work sites.
Salary
$30 per hour
