We also work very closely with the Children’s Community Nursing team and allied health professionals including Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Dieticians.

This is a fixed term post with the following aims
• Support the current clinical team in delivering regular clinics for Initial Health Assessments (IHA’s) for Children in Care.
• Provide regular clinics for the assessment and management of children referred to the bowel and bladder team, working alongside medical and nursing staff to help meet the increasing demand on the service
• To support the wider work of the community paediatric department, contributing to some developmental assessments, focusing on assessing children referred with different developmental conditions and those in particular who are not likely to require long-term follow-up

The Northern Centre for Cancer Care (NCCC) is looking to appoint a Radiotherapy Service Manager and Professional Lead Therapeutic Radiographer based in Newcastle.

We are looking for a well-motivated, experienced person to lead the delivery of radiotherapy services within our Cancer Centres in Newcastle and Carlisle (Northern Centre for Cancer Care North Cumbria).

This management position within NCCC/NCCCNC involves the full range of management accountabilities including day-to-day operational management of the radiotherapy department in both Newcastle and North Cumbria.

This post is responsible for teams across both departments incorporating approximately 100 members of staff, predominantly radiographers.

We have 9 Varian TrueBeams, 2 Tomotherapy units, 3 CT Scanners, 1 SXT unit and 1 HDR brachytherapy unit across our two sites, delivering treatment to approximately 6000 new patients per year employing a wide range of therapies including multi-met SRS, lungs SABR, HDR gynae brachytherapy, TBI/TSEI, gated lung therapy and cardiac SABR.

This is an exciting role for a motivated individual keen to drive improvement and join a very supportive and collaborative team.

The post holder takes day-to-day responsibility for delivery of the radiotherapy department’s key performance indicators as laid out in the NHS England’s service specification. This includes achieving the national cancer waiting time targets including the 62 and 31-day waits.

NCCC provides a highly specialized regional radiotherapy service to a population of circa 3.3million across the North East and North Cumbria with radiotherapy service provision for circa 2.0million.

This senior management position within NCCC/NCCC-NC involves the full range of management accountabilities for the delivery of radiotherapy services, including day-to-day operational management of the departments in both Newcastle and North Cumbria. A key objective for the post holder is to ensure equity of service delivery across the geographically spread treatment locations. This requires the post holder to ensure effective agreement exists between the departments in delivery of both strategic and operational objectives in order to deliver integrated care pathways.

The role provides radiotherapy professional leadership to the Radiotherapy Operational Delivery Network (ODN) responsible for providing radiotherapy system leadership and the delivery of NHS England’s vision and ambitions for the modernisation of radiotherapy services

As a member of the Occupational Health team you will be required to provide an occupational health surveillance, screening and immunisation service under the direction of the Occupational Health Advisor / Lead Nurse, having freedom to act within policies and practices of the service. You will provide a service of excellence, which is primarily responsible for meeting the needs of Trust employees, but also external contracts from both the private and public sector.

You will apply limited specialist knowledge and skills to undertake a clinical service, and other varied responsibilities of the post.

Working to best practice, carry out a comprehensive range of pre/post-employment health screening and associated health surveillance in order to respond positively to legislative requirements.
• To carry out Work Health Assessment screening and associated health surveillance in order to respond positively to legislative requirements.
• Provide professional Occupational Health Nursing care, by assessing the needs of individual clients, obtaining medical and occupational histories in a systematic manner and instigating suitable programmes of care/advice in conjunction with the Senior Occupational Health Nurse Adviser, or according to locally agreed protocols, as well as ensuring that clinical records are kept for all employee contacts as appropriate.
• To establish and maintain up to date vaccination programmes for all personnel who are at risk of exposure to pathogens during the course of their work; including contact tracing when deemed necessary. Whilst maintaining an effective recall system using the Occupational Health database.
• To carry out eyesight testing in line with the Display Screen Equipment Regulations, and make recommendations after consultation (where necessary) with the Senior Occupational Health Nurse Adviser.
• To advise employees following contaminated sharps injury or bodily fluid exposure, undertaking risk assessment and advising on the appropriate action in line with department protocols. To liaise with the OHP or Sexual health consultant if PEP is required.
