What will you be doing?

• Undertake succinct, timely and thorough Assessments of prospective applicants.
• Engage and work directly with parents/ carers and children/ young people, using age and stage appropriate methods to inform the assessment and planning process, to hear their views and respond supportively.
• Ensure all information and reports relevant to work carried out is recorded, updated and completed in an efficient and timely manner and according to Directorate/legislative policies and procedures so that decisions made and acted upon are fully evidenced and provide sufficiently for audit, court or any other legitimate purpose.
• Attend adoption panel and court hearings as appropriate, to relevant cases, representing our children, adopters and adoption service professionally.
• Work collaboratively as an adoption team member with applicants, adopters, colleagues, other professionals and services, to achieve positive working relationships and outcomes for children.

About you

• You understand the lifelong impact of children’s early life experiences and their long-term resulting needs.
• You understand the legal framework relating to adoption and have knowledge and experience of therapeutic parenting, attachment theory and the application of these to adoption issues in working with families and children.
• You are an excellent communication both verbal and written skills
• You have experience of undertaking assessments of children and families
• You have a degree in Social Work, a valid Social Work England Registration, at least 2 years of post-qualification experience, a driving licence and car.

We are looking for someone who ideally has experience of completing PAR Assessments or has adoption related experience from their work with children. Main Duties and Responsibilities This post is single site, ward-based, in a busy and dynamic unit, working in a team of consultants, registrar middle grades, core trainees supporting FY1s. On Call Commitment 1 in 20 for General, Urology and Vascular surgery (including weekends and nights). Key Duties There are generally elective and emergency inpatients, the majority of whom are elderly with complex comorbidities. We have a large amount of admissions and discharges every day.Each FY will have a single named consultant clinical supervisor. The FY1 will be responsible for ward care, assisting in outpatients and on calls. Responsibilities include acceptance, assessment and initial treatment of acute patients You are also expected toparticipate in Clinical Governance, including effective clinical audit, continuing medical education and mandatory training. To contribute to departmental audit and research with consultant supervision. Opportunities are available to undertake personal research and enhance the CV. To participate in teaching programmes for medical staff, medical students (University of Leicester and University of Oxford) and other hospital employees, as required. Main Duties and Responsibilities The department offers exposure and training in Laparoscopic Colorectal, Laparoscopic Benign Upper GI Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Urology as well as General Surgery. The successful candidate will work in a team at Northampton General Hospital and is available from December 2024 until April 2025 with an opportunity to extend further for suitable candidates. This post is suited to FY2-CT2 level candidates, who would like further training in general surgery to advance their career and enhance their CV. Specifically, candidates will be supported to obtain core surgical training competencies and MRCS qualifications, in preparation for applying for higher surgical training. This is a service post, but clinical and surgical training will be provided to suit the candidates needs. The post holder may take up a whole time, maximum part time or job share contract. The successful candidate will participate in the General Surgery SHO full shift rota comprising of 12 SHO grades covering Urology, Vascular and General Surgery emergencies. Duties will include the full range of clinical activities, operating lists, outpatient clinics, ward rounds, surgical on call and supporting the emergency theatres. Additionally, successful candidates will be supported in research and audit activity. The Trust has a strong medical education department with regular teaching. The Department of Surgery has ten GI Surgeons, six Vascular Consultants and six Urologists. We provide specialist services including Laparoscopic Oncological Colorectal surgery, Laparoscopic Repair of Complex Hernias, benign Upper GI & hepatobiliary surgery and inflammatory bowel disease surgery including ileo-anal pouch surgery. We additionally perform robotic prostatectomy and rectal surgery using the Da Vinci platform. The vascular services at NGH and KGH were reconfigured in 2012 to form the Northamptonshire Vascular Service. NGH is the centre providing elective arterial surgery, 24/7 emergency vascular surgery and emergency interventional vascular radiology procedures for the patients of Northamptonshire. A Family Group Conference (FGC) is a family led meeting, supported by their wider network in which people come together to plan for a child/ren. The process is supported by an independent and impartial co-ordinator who helps the family prepare.

The role of the Senior is to support the team to deliver the service in line with the organisational strategy and to supervise and support the FGC team in the development and delivery of Northamptonshire Children’s Trust Family Group Conferencing Service. As part of the role the post holder will line manage and deliver supervision to 4 FCG co-ordinators and 1administator.

This role will be required to support families to make realistic, safe, and robust plans for the protection of their children and to enable families to care for their children within their own family and friend’s network.

What will you be doing?

- To lead and manage, oversee, and support the work of a team of FGC staff: FGC Co-ordinators and Business Support to ensure that all FGC work undertaken is of high quality and effective in meeting targets

About you

- Minimum level 5 Qualification in in Social Work, Health or Education. Or equivalent substantial, relevant professional experience of working with children , young people vulnerable adults and their families AND qualified to deliver Family Group Conferences.

- Family Group Conference Trained/qualified, and experience of delivering FGC’s

- A deep understanding of the complex issues faced by children and young people at the edge of care, and what works to create and maintain safe, stable and sustained outcomes.

- Proven experience in supervising or supporting staff to deliver whole family interventions.

- Extensive, hands-on experience in preventative work with children and families facing escalating needs, with demonstrated ability to assess risks, safeguard, and intervene effectively.

- Enhanced DBS Clearance.
