• To assist in the production of the Divisions Management Accounts on a monthly basis to an agreed timetable.
• Responsible for assisting the Finance Business Partner and divisional finance team, in the financial reporting for specific departments or Divisions, covering areas including financial position, budget and efficiencies.

of the Trust’s annually agreed Patient Safety Incident Response Plan (PSIRP). This is required within the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) which has been implemented in response the NHS Patient Safety Strategy (2019). The Patient Safety Incident Investigator will undertake robust patient safety incident investigations by working with a range of internal and external stakeholders to investigate, analyse and use judgement through the collation of evidence and findings using the agreed methods within the Trust’s PSIRP. The post holder will also assist healthcare professionals across the Trust to deliver safer care through an understanding of the effects of teamwork, tasks, equipment, workspace, culture and organisation on human behaviour and identify contributory factors when incidents occur and make recommendations for systemic improvements. The outcome will be the identification of systems learning from a patient safety event/incident that will then guide sustainable risk reduction and service improvement, ensuring that a Just and Learning Culture and Human Factors principles are maintained.

booked appropriately.

Applications are invited for one full time Clinical Fellow ST3+ doctor in General Surgery. These posts will be for 6 months on a fixed term contract. Ideally, you will be available to commence in post from April 2024 but this could be negotiated.

The Department of General Surgery comprises 11 Consultants, 11 Specialty Trainees/Clinical Fellows ranging from ST3 to ST8 level and 20 more junior level trainees. Particular specialty interest include Colorectal, Vascular and Breast surgery including laparoscopic colorectal surgery and oncoplastic reconstruction. It is a busy clinical environment with a large volume of elective and emergency surgery and scope for personal development. A number of our current trust grade registrars are completing their FRCS examinations.

Swindon is a major town set within the rural beauty of Wiltshire, nestling between the Cotswolds to the North and Marlborough Downs to the South. Travel to major cities including Bristol, Oxford and London is easy with very frequent rail links and within an hour’s journey by rail. The M4 motorway is within a couple of miles for travel by road. Locally, accommodation is affordable for this part of the country and there are excellent shopping, social and sports facilities within easy reach.

The successful candidate will work within one of three teams; GI, Vascular or Breast. Together with their
colleagues they will be responsible for the day to day management of their team’s in-patients, perform the
duties of the on-call general surgical registrar and attend theatre and out-patients. If appointed you will be
one of 10 general surgical registrars who all participate in the on-call with an F1 and an F2 assisting them.
The successful candidate also will be expected to participate with the training of junior staff and medical
students attached to the general surgery department.

The surgical departments have a long history of surgical rotations, with the emphasis being of training in the
environment of a busy, large District General Hospital with consultant teams with excellent links to nearby
teaching centres notably Oxford and Bristol. The successful candidates will be attached to one of three firms
(two colorectal and one upper gastrointestinal) for appointment, providing on call cover for the team on a
EWTD compliant, 1 in 11 rolling rota, and providing ward cover for the team’s in-patients. There is also a
second-on-call rota covering the surgical admissions unit during office hours which is 1 in 12. There is ample
opportunity for “hands-on” surgical training in the operating theatre. Each general surgical firm consists of a
consultant, a registrar, a core trainee/clinical fellow/F2 and an F1. The successful candidate will have
opportunity to take study leave to attend examinations and courses as required.
