The launch of the CDC will ensure patients have access to specialised services within a community setting, whilst taking advantage of close links with the service at Bart’s Heart Centre.

The service at the CDC is based on a7 day a week, 12 hoursa day model offering flexible access to patients from around London and beyond.

The role incorporates regular general outpatient neurology clinics together with an inpatient liaison service.

Neuro-radiology meetings occur twice a month in Winchester. A clinical governance or management meeting is held on the other weeks of the month. On service effectiveness and development, we work closely with the Long Term Conditions Operational Service Managers (Francesca English, Dawn Andrews and Joe Haynes).

The successful candidate would be expected to commit to the on-going development of care within the Medical Division; to take part in the education of junior medical staff, nursing staff and allied health professionals; to contribute to the governance activity and medical management of the department; and to foster the cohesiveness and teamwork in the wider neurology team.

The post is linked to the regional neurosciences centre at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS), where our patients requiring inpatient management are admitted; and where there will be the opportunity to undertake subspecialist work. You will be responsible for monitoring and forecasting demand and capacity, and ensuring patient access issues are identified and resolved promptly. You will provide leadership and operational management skills to support your administrative team, escalating to the Deputy Operational Services Manager (OSM) where appropriate.

The job involves day to day management of therapy caseloads, working closely with the MDT, and completing thorough assessment and treatment of a variety of patient groups. You will be required to support Band 7 staff in caseload management, leadership, and meetings, and have direct line management responsibility for junior staff and supervision of students, with vast opportunities for own professional learning and supporting others to learn.

In addition to the above we are excited to be trialling a Therapy Supported Discharge Scheme, which involves continuing care for patients from the hospital setting to the community, ensuring appropriate assessment and treatment for ongoing improvement of quality of life.

Providing a competent administrative service and will be required to have a robust knowledge of the outsourcing process. The post holder will need to ensure the efficient delivery of the administration tasks.

The post holder will also be required to support the specialty Coordinator and wider clerical team within the service and deputise for the Speciality Coordinator as and when required.
