Medical services Based in Sheldon/Kenyon ward on Mondays to Fridays 09:00 17:00. There are no on-call duties but will involve day-to-day in-patient care including: - Clerking of admissions - Assessment and formulation of management/discharge plans in conjunction with the MDT - Mental capacity assessment - Management of acutely deteriorating patients - Palliative care - Meetings and case conferences with families. All the doctors working within the Medical Unit will work as a TEAM. Flexibility in cross over arrangements is expected at times of annual leave, sickness and study leave, or any other absences of colleagues. Undertaking supervision of junior doctors with the care and management of patients on the medical wards or outlying wards. Providing cover for general ward duties eg when trainee doctors obligatory training coincides with other medical staff commitments. Assisting with inpatient or day-case patients for intravenous therapies (supervision and prescribing) or specific endocrine tests; liaison with nurse practitioners involved.

Cover outside the Rota requiring extra hours of work will be paid as additional work at nationally agreed rates and will be coordinated to be compliant with the relevant legislation. It is expected that the post holder will play an active part in the training of junior medical staff. He/she will also be expected to supervise, educate and assist medical students. The switchboard service is essential to the smooth running of the operation of our hospitals at both Castle Hill Hospital and Hull Royal Infirmary, which is one of 27 Major Trauma Centres in England.

You will be responsible for handling calls in a professional manner, enabling patients and colleagues to get through to the right number. Responding effectively to emergency calls, alarm activations and incident procedures in a calm and professional manner.

Additional training will also be given on the Portering and non-patient transport desk which also operates from the switchboard area.

Strategic Responsibilities Implementation and delivery of a financial strategy for the Trust within the context of the Trust's strategic direction and taking account of national resources and policy.
