Team Lead / Principal Platform Engineer
Job Title: Principal Platform Engineer - Team Lead
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Principal Platform Engineer or Platform Lead to join our engineering system team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in technical knowledge and experienced with coaching/leading a team of engineers. They will also have a strong understanding of how main business drivers may impact their area and be capable of assessing complex problems with broad impact on operations. This position will participate in defining strategy and tactics for cloud re-hosting migrations, while also evolving and working with software developers in replatforming applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in designing and implementing a distributed technology stack along with other software architects and encourage shared and common design practices
- Lead the implementation of significant projects and/or introduction of new features, managing the backlog of work for our team
- Work with architects and management to ensure the underlying platform stack is sound, scalable, monitorable, and cost-efficient
- Develop solid business and technical domain knowledge of more than one application area, including dependencies and integrations with other systems and applications
- Facilitate proof of concepts to help drive operational enablement of emerging technologies
- Define tactics and participate in strategy vision for cloud migration and replatforming
- Participate in and supervise embedded teams in larger enterprise projects as required to meet strategic initiatives
- Manage and report on SLA, RTO, RPO, and cost objectives and devise strategies for improvement
- Lead trainings, produce documentation, and be comfortable presenting and coaching team members on distributed systems design and implementation
- Act as a formal trainer for mid-level and senior engineer
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or greater in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- 7+ years experience in technical product ownership, project execution, and team leadership
- Strong understanding of platform components, containers, cloud operations, and infrastructure management; capable of systems analysis to understand and visualize a distributed system of components
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with a high level of autonomy, based on management direction
- Ability to contribute to planning of resources and budget
- Proficient in technical knowledge to ensure team understands technical work, refining projects into actionable backlog items
- Understands how main business drivers may impact their own area. Can assess complex problems with broad impact

Azure Solutions Architect Expert
Certified Kubernetes Administrator
Microsoft SQL Server
Kubernetes or other containerization
5-Layer TCP IP Model + DNS
PowerShell Automation
Infrastructure-as-code - Bicep, Terraform, or ARM
