The Platform & Innovation Lead for Medical Affairs is the voice of Medical Affairs within the Advanced Drug Delivery Systems platform and Innovation teams. Oversees Medical Affairs strategy from preclinical, toxicology to clinical, and human factors, as well as post marketing follow up. The Platform Lead develops a team of core team members for products under development & product life cycle as well as managers.

Responsibilities:

• Sharing clinical expertise, providing input into medical strategy and tactical plans, as well as acting as a sounding board to the emerging questions and challenges from the team
• Accountability of the Medical Affairs strategy for all products under their platform
• Leads development and implementation of the Medical Affairs strategy. Ensure those are aligned with the needs of product development
• Directs and is responsible for evidence generation plans for each respective platform / product and ensures these plans are aligned with the business and market access needs
• Engages with Subject Matter Experts, new customers, and provides scientific support to the platform for managing new opportunities
• Collaborates with Health Economics & Outcome Research, R&D and Marketing to ensure that all evidence generation plans are aligned to the broader evidence generation needs for each respective product and platform
• Creates scientific publication strategy for the platform
• Ensures resources are aligned for executing studies on budget and on time
• Directs and oversees risk management activities for products across the product development workstreams, ensuring medical input is provided throughout each development phase
• Reviews all claims & adProm material related to products within their platform
• Participates in Advanced Drug Delivery Systems LT meetings and represent MA at the New Product Development council and in innovation discussions
• Ensures a total alignment exists between the functional leads and what their team members are doing
• Prioritizes activities within their platform to ensure the workload remains acceptable and negotiates resources with the Platform VP/GM
• Serves as the senior medical leader to the R&D organization, providing medical direction, input and guidance in all platform related R&D and LT forums
• Approves all MA change control responses for products within their platform
• Approves Clinical Evaluation Report for products under their respective platforms and ensures MA aspects of Post Market Surveillance
• Drives innovation under their respective platform
• Provides medical support and input to new product development and R&D innovation workstreams, ensuring all plans and ideas have medical relevance
• Evaluates new product or technology opportunities/concepts, and if supported, develops an evidence pathway, including budget projections, which would be required to ensure market success/product adoption
• Management of safety/medical issues for their respective products

Requirements

• BA or BS degree.

• 3 - 5 proven years of sales experience, or comparable experience outside of BD.

• Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrable selling skills.

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.

• Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued license driver’s license with 3 years of consecutive driving history and meet BD’s auto safety standards’.

BD Life Sciences Segment / Integrated Diagnostic Solutions (IDS) / Specimen Management Business Group

BD Life Sciences provides products for the safe collection and transport of diagnostics specimens, and instruments as well as reagent systems to detect a broad range of infectious diseases, healthcare-associated infections (“HAIs”) and cancers. Develops safety and efficacy requirements and a clinical test plan to address S&E, Regulatory and Marketing requirements for new and improved products and gains functional approval of such. • Interacts with global medical, academic and industry experts to establish strategic direction for innovation, technology, and product development projects.

• Provides clinical support to products entering or currently on the market including training BD associates, troubleshooting, data review, interpretation and presentation, post market study design, publications, preparation, or review of regulatory communications, and addressing quality issues.

• Designs studies, formulates, and conducts scientific investigations, feasibility studies, and due diligence and validation studies related to new technologies and products. Interprets and presents results. Prepares technical reports, abstracts, journal submissions and presents at scientific meetings or within BD.

• Reviews information and assesses risks related to vendor, material, and manufacturing process changes. Designs clinical studies as needed and interprets and presents results.

• Provides medical expertise and leadership for post market surveillance and post market studies.  

Education and Experience:

• BS in a health-related field, MS or PhD desirable

• Knowledge of scientific methodologies and clinical laboratory medicine, including specimen collection and management and preanalytical phase of the total laboratory testing process.

• Knowledge of clinical trials and ability to design, review and interpret data from such.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

Job Description Summary

We are seeking a Women’s Health Specialist (WHS), who is responsible for calling on OB/GYN physicians, Family & General Practitioners, Laboratory Outreach Coordinators & their respective sales teams, Physician Office Labs (POL), and Local Distribution Channel Partners as defined by a targeted accounts plan. The WHS will provide the assigned targeted accounts with complete and accurate information pertaining to the assigned BD product lines in a manner that will increase our overall portfolio growth. In addition to physician office sales, the WHS will effectively collaborate with their local distribution channel partners to target new instrument sales within their Physician Office Labs (POLs). The role will require an effective ability to utilize business to business skills in partnering with customers and distributors.

The WHS will work in partnership with the molecular diagnostic consultant (MDC) and to fully develop and implement regional and strategic account sales plans involving multiple stakeholders and buyers in the laboratory adoption of assigned product portfolio. The associate will utilize the entire BD (POD) selling team consisting of the Account Executive (AE), Molecular Diagnostic Consultant (MDC), Molecular Application Specialist (MAS), and Field Service Engineers (FSE). Responsible for sales, sales forecasting, marketing feedback, best practices development, ongoing training and development, reference site development, and customer satisfaction relative to sales activities.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Communicate BD’s long term strategic direction to the customer and demonstrate the value proposition of the Diagnostic product portfolio to be consistent with the needs of the customer.

• Learn and become competent in BD’s women’s health and molecular offering to serve as a an expert to drive demand within the designated physician market.

• Works closely with the Local BD POD structure in the region to identify and close new accounts, attain, or exceed the overall sales plan for the designated platform of products within the WHS territory.

• Develops and implements a regional and strategic account sales plan involving multiple stakeholders and buyers in the hospital / laboratory adoption of designated products and platforms.

• Calls on prospective customers, create demand, communicate medical, clinical, and patient outcome benefits, deliver product information and demonstrations, and prepare economic models / proposals and quotes within company guidelines.

• Develops and implements sales and marketing plans, including customer profiling, targeting and call schedules, to ensure achievement of all sales objectives

• Demonstrates the ability to work cooperatively with all BD personnel as a member of the POD structure to achieve regional objectives through the communication of successful tactics and recommendations for continuous improvements in procedures, strategies, and specific processes.

• Works with key support staff and other technical support team members, to develop and implement key account evaluation plans and to update colleagues on a regular basis.

• Generates leads and sales by participating in state, regional, and national meetings as directed by Sales Management.

• Participates on cross-functional product launch teams.  Work closely with the other IDS sales team members and Marketing Product Managers to gather best practice and centers of excellence data.

• Actively participates in all training sessions and demonstrate proficiency by testing or other means as assigned at session completion.

• Manages administrative duties as assigned: monitoring expenses to budget (free goods / samples), timely administrative and call reporting, funnel, and competitive data entries, use and maintenance of Company assets and adhering to OHSA and Universal Lab precautions, as applicable, and all consistent with BD Company policy.

Minimum qualifications include:

• BA/BS required; Life Sciences or Biological areas preferred.

• 3+ years medical sales experience preferred.

• Previous experience with (Women’s Health, and/or products in the medical marketplace) involving complex selling situations highly preferred.

• Proven track record in developing new capital equipment business on a yearly basis.

• Must be self-motivated to succeed and have a mastery of the complex sales process.

• Computer proficiency is required, including skills with the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of current U.S. healthcare trends that can be integrated into region sales strategies.

• Demonstrated strong organizational, territory management, account assessment and relationship development skills.

• Demonstrated analytical thinking abilities with financial orientation applicable to contract proposals and profitability, budget, and expense management.

• Ability to adapt to changing markets and or territory conditions while maintaining all objectives and/or goals.

Job Summary

The Oncology Vascular Access Territory Manager will sell the HD Safety product portfolio as well as Infection Prevention product portfolio to Acute Care facilities and Oncology/Infusion Centers.  The territory manager is a highly proficient sales performer with experienced level of knowledge regarding Hazardous Drug Safety space and experience with Infection prevention. This person will work closely with their Regional Manager to identify targets and to implement effective selling strategies that foster a sales performance crafted to achieve their territory sales budget. They understand the importance of implementing existing national and local contracts by using pricing strategies to drive sales by collaborating with National Accounts and Business Integrators as appropriate.  They also work collaboratively with Infusion, Surgical and Access teams to enhance relationships they have in areas of the hospital to expand chemo safety penetration, infection prevention and identify new account opportunities. Conversely, the relationships developed in pharmacy and oncology can be used to create opportunities to increase the Infusion team product sales growth. The OVC TM will work with Strategic Account Managers, the One Company resource to cultivate positive relationships with key clinical and economic decision makers in key Large Accounts and IDNs.

• Maintains existing business while focusing on growth opportunities.

• Effectively forecasts and reports sales through funnel accuracy.

• Accountable for meeting assigned territory budget goals.

• Manages within operational expense budget and sample budget.

• Leads, develops and implements economic models for customers.

• Handles and leads all account/customer relationships in driving Chemo Safety sales.

• Works collaboratively with MDS team to identify nee opportunities.

• Demonstrates comprehensive product knowledge and driven differentiation.

• Understands clinical application focused on customer needs.

• Apply PSS skills to resolve customer needs and deliver solution based presentations.  PSS training to be provide.

• Works collaboratively with Territory Managers, National Account Managers and MDS Regional Manager to drive the selling process and conversion management process in growing overall sales.

• Works collaboratively Clinical Sales Support and Managers to effectively implement a successful conversion management process through Clinical Consultants.

• Educates physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and others on safe handling of hazardous meds and the use of products.

• Continuously promote and improve knowledge of Chemo Safety products, Vascular Care products, competitive products, sales and promotional skills through the Clinical Support function and MDS field sales organization.

• Participates in trade shows to promote the company’s product line, educate potential and existing customers in the medical community.

Requirements

• BA or BS degree.

• 3 - 5 proven years of sales experience, or comparable experience outside of BD.

• Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills.

• Demonstrable selling skills.

• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Leads product development efforts using a multitude of processes and tools. Accountable for timely delivery, technical excellence and process effeefficiencyproduct development activities while ensuring the implementation and rigor of BDM-PS product development processes and design control procedures.

• Accountable for crafting and implementing accurate planning, including creation of the project work breakdown structures, identification of critical path and prioritization, using appropriate project management software and tools. Maintains a high level of personal direct engagement in the day-to-day activity of the team.

• Leads multiple small to medium scale projects of low to moderate complexity.

• Develops technical and business process solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of a situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends and/or customer needs.

• Follows processes and operational policies.

• Represents the organization as the primary contact on Development Agreements and Projects.  Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations

• Ensures effective and efficient regular formal and informal communications with their core team(s) using a variety of tools and channels.

• Ensures that the appropriate resources are available for the project and contribute to the expected levels. Accountable for ensuring project resources are fully utilized and releasing them (completely or partially) as soon as workload permits.

• Communicates team strategy & plans, execution and results at various review meetings (e.g. PMRs). Makes the Platform and ADDS leadership aware of, and proposes solutions to, unanticipated or potential issues/concerns as soon as they are known

• Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans and performance requirements.

• Participates in Product portfolio road mapping exercises, Product development concept phases or PIR championing.

Qualifications:

Education:

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering - post graduate a plus.

• Project Management certification a plus.

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years proven experience working in a structured product development process, including Design Control and Validations.

• 3-5 years of proven experience as a member of a cross-functional Core Team (Member or Leader).

• FDA guidelines on design and manufacturing of medical devices.

• Project execution and administration.

• Generating customer requirements and writing product requirements, specifications, test protocols, and test reports.

• Working knowledge and experience in international standards applicable to medical devices, including ISO13485, ISO14971, and IEC60601.

Skills:
