We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed pharmacist to join our team of Specialist Clinical Pharmacists, providing essential care and support to cancer patients. Whether you are at the beginning of your career, mid-career, or an experienced professional, we welcome applications from all backgrounds. For those with experience in Cancer Services, the position is offered at Band 8a. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide a high-quality clinical pharmacy and medicines management service to cancer patients.
• At Band 8a, develop specialist knowledge in oncology and haematology.
• Clinically screen SACT prescriptions, adhering to local standards. Following competency-based training aligned with the British Oncology Pharmacy Association SACT Passport (Level 2 or 3), you will have the opportunity to pursue further education to become a Pharmacist Independent Prescriber (PIP) and practise as required.
• Work closely with the Cancer Pharmacy Team Leaders to develop cancer pharmacy services and support the pharmacy elements of cancer clinical trials.
• Play a crucial role in implementing local and national standards, ensuring access to funding through the Cancer Drugs Fund (CDF) and individual funding requests (IFRs).

You will collaborate with the Oncology, Haematology, and Palliative Care teams, under the leadership of the Lead Cancer Pharmacists. We actively support independent prescribing and professional development, and we are seeking someone who shares our vision for the future of cancer services in beautiful Dorset.

Additional Information:This role includes weekend working (4 hours every Sunday, as part of a 1-in-5 rota), as well as early and late shifts within cancer services.

The successful candidate will provide dysphagia and communication assessment/ therapy to patients with a wide range of clinical diagnoses including stroke, older person’s medicine, respiratory, trauma and gastroenterology.

With specialist teams covering Head & Neck, voice, stroke, acute medicine, older person’s medicine and critical care, there will be opportunities to expand your exposure to, and knowledge in these areas, while completing your rotations in acute and stroke.

We have several vacancies for Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technicians (PTPTs) and are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team.

Candidates must have a minimum of 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths, English and Science at Grade 4/C or above, be able to demonstrate they are committed to a career in Pharmacy and will ideally have some previous pharmacy experience. Evidence of essential qualifications must be provided prior to interview. Other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis.

All posts are fixed term for 2 years with a full-time contract of 37.5 hours per week and require participation inthe late night, weekend and Bank Holiday rotas. In exceptional circumstances and reviewed on a case by case basis, a minimum of 30 hours per week may be considered.

Candidates will need to be available to start in February 2025.



Interview dates: 18th and 19th November 2024.

Throughout the two year post, PTPTs will gain practical experience and develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours across rotational opportunities in dispensary, pharmacy stores, community pharmacy and hospital wards. This is whilst undertaking a distance learning apprenticeship delivered by an accredited external education provider.



By the end of the two years PTPTs will;


• Have attained a Pharmacy Technician (Integrated) Level 3 Apprenticeship
• Be eligible to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
• Be able to apply for Pharmacy Technician roles nationally

A considerable amount of additional study will be required in the student’s own time. The successful candidate must have good time management skills both in and out of work due to the pressure of undertaking the qualification, and being in full time employment. A learning contract must be adhered to at all times.
