Duties consist of but not limited to the following:

• Incumbent thoroughly searches the medical record to identify and code all information pertinent to the patient's diagnosis (includes demographics, diagnosis, site and histology, diagnostic procedures, extent of disease and treatment).
• Adheres to the guidelines set forth by the American College of Surgeons (ACoS) in the Registry Operations and Data Standards (ROADS), the AJCC Staging Manual International Classification of Diseases for Oncology, ICD9/10, and SEER Surgical Codes when coding tumor registry abstracts.
• Keeps abreast of new medical terminology and revision to the above manuals Utilizes coding references to ensure that complete and accurate data is collected
• Codes information contained on several forms and documents that make up an entire record, to include the electronic health record.
• Codes diseases, surgical procedures, and cause of injury (uses specific codes required in a cancer registry, stage of disease, morphology, and topography using International Classification of Diseases for Oncology, AJCC Staging Manual and the ROADS Manual).
• Independently codes a wide variety of medical diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures.
• Codes diseases and causes of injury
• Codes stages of disease using international classification of Diseases of Oncology.
• Analyzes the consistency of coding of registry data, cancer diagnosis, histology, treatment (Including surgical procedures, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, hormonal therapy and radiation therapy).
• Identifies coding discrepancies
• Facilitates resolution of coding discrepancies by discussion with providers/registry coordinator
• Codes complicated medical records having diagnostic, surgical and therapeutic procedures that are identified as difficult to classify.
• Maintains a control system to ensure that all cases of cancer are coded in a timely manner by adhering to the Standards of the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, Registry Operations and Data Standards and appropriate VA Regulations
• Reviews records to obtain data which is then entered into the registry software (The oncology data is available for analysis and used by health care staff for research, patient care, protocol studies, and trends in cancer).
• Submits data from the tumor registry in accordance with VA guidelines to the VA Central Cancer Registry
• As part of an ACOS Approved Cancer Program, data is also submitted annually to the National Cancer Database
• Data is also submitted to the State Cancer Registry in compliance with the CDC (data includes codes for diagnoses and procedures, topography, morphology, and stage of disease, provider information and coded data for the treatment of cancer)
• Collects core data from patients' records, including demographic characteristics, diagnostic procedures, diagnoses, stage and extent of disease
• Independently maintains registry to show occurrences of disease by type, extent of illness and survival (information is gathered from various sources that require the employee to distinguish or validate the data)
• Maintains health record indexes and compiles administrative and health statistics for physicians as well as all other health care staff at this facility and throughout the VA System (may also include public health officials, medical center management, planners, and others)
• Organizes and maintains a data system which conforms to the standards of an Approved Cancer Program and meets the needs of the users of the registry data.
• Maintains quality control of follow-up procedures
• Ensures that data is reported accurately and in correct format
• Prepares correspondence and summaries of medical records in response to a variety of requests
• Provides technical advice to the clinical staff relative to the best method of recording AJCC Staging, the use of staging forms, and the correct documentation of diagnoses/procedures
• Reviews medical records to gather information on cancer statistics, including treatment, stage of disease, incidence, survival and numerous other criteria
• Organizes and maintains the cancer registry data system.
• Reviews lifetime follow-up on patients including cancer status and vital status.
• Oversees tumor board documentation, ensuring documentation meets the requirements and standards set forth by ACoS and/or facility standards. Ascertains a random sampling of annual analytic case load for physician review to ensure quality registry data.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for achieving DSS program goals and maintaining DSS operations for the network;
• Develop, implement, monitor and document action plans that cross medical center programs;
• Determines program resource needs;
• Coordinates all routine tasks, updates, changes to the system, auditing and documentation of all actions;

The pharmacy technician works in collaboration with other pharmacy technicians and responds to requests of pharmacists and other pharmacy supervisory staff. Duties may include, but are not limited to the following description:

• Processes and fills outpatient prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist;
• Reviews outpatient drug orders and patient refill requests in the VISTA system to prioritize the filling and dispensing with the pharmacist;
• Assists in the process by selecting, counting/pouring, and labeling the prescription;
• Records required information on Pharmacy's copy of the prescription/order. After a final check by a pharmacist, dispenses medication to outpatients;

• Prepares sterile products using aseptic techniques, in accordance with applicable USP standards;

• Reconstitutes oral and external medications (non-sterile). This includes calculating and converting to proper weights and measures, the amount of drug or solution to be used. Final check is performed by a pharmacist;
• Packages and labels unit of use medications;
• Restocks ward and clinic areas;
• Performs monthly ward/clinic inspections in accordance with JCAHO standards;
• Receives and appropriately manages/routes telephone calls from the national pharmacy and local call centers;
• Sorts and distributes all incoming mail to staff as appropriate;
• Sorts medication returned by mail for proper disposal or mailing to appropriate address. Reviews mail-in refill requests from patients and enters notes in CPRS when prescription have expired or have no remaining refills; and
• Processes telephone and on-line refill requests from patients.

The purpose of this position is to serve as the Medical Center's financial expert, the Chief Financial Officer is responsible for establishing and maintaining a complex integrated system of financial staff services which include budget, accounting systems, payroll systems, administrative and managerial support and financial analytical reporting and planning.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Assures management those financial transactions are in accounting, budget and all other financial services arc compatible with the requirements of the Office of Management and Budget (0MB), the General Accounting Office (GAO), and the Treasury Department and that records of accounting and financial statements accurately reflect a full disclosure of the financial aspects or the stations operations.
• Performs annual certification of ell general ledger accounting, auditing, budgeting, managerial-financial analysis and reporting, payroll, third party revenue and collections, cashier services, travel, position management, and the Veterans Equitable Resource Allocation (VERA) program.
• Accounts for the accuracy, legality, compliance with regulations, and justification, of ell financial transactions to include expenditure of all funds, vouchers, invoices, claims, and other requests for payment.
• Functions as the appointed agency certifying officer, delegated unlimited and independent authority to authorize payments from agency funds.
• Ensures payment authorizations are subject only to GAO post audit review.
• Develops the necessary policies, procedures, and organizational structures required to fulfill the service line's mission.
• Reviews and analysis of estimates and negotiating with operating officials, consolidates the results to make recommendations to management and other appropriate entities.
• Conducts and coordinates budget briefings.
• Directs all administrative activities within the service line-including Fiscal Management, Supplies & Equipment Management, Human Resources Management, Strategic Planning, ill\d program evaluation.

• Provides consultative services within his/her purview to the Medical Center Director, Associate Director, and Service Linc Managers.
• Participates with senior management in the development of goals and in decision making and policy making that impacts the operations of the service line.
• Participates in activities and programs beneficial to the medical center such ns committees, task forces, and investigations.

Major duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment during all surgical procedures including but not limited to: thoracic, major vascular, general, urology, plastics, ophthalmology and total joint replacement surgery.
• Set up the sterile field with all required items for each procedure such as air-powered equipment, fiber optic equipment, laparoscopic equipment. microscopes, lasers, arthroscopy equipment, urologic equipment, recording devices, and other operating room supplies and equipment.
• Plan and discusses each procedure with surgical professionals and assures that all supplies and equipment are available prior to the surgical procedure.
• Prepare, organize, and maintain highly complex sterile surgical setups.
• Observe and respond promptly to each stage of the surgical procedure and anticipates the needs of the surgeon by maintaining a high level of concentration for extended periods of time.
