• Provide professional nursing care through the delivery, management, and coordination of care and services in a clinic setting through face-to-face encounters or via telehealth/virtual nursing.

The position serves as a Project Engineer at an assigned Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Healthcare System. A. Performs Healthcare Planning/Design Management
The position determines the requirements for healthcare projects in relation to the needs of the Healthcare System, inclusive of the parent site, as well as off-site locations under the auspice of the Healthcare System, whether VA owned or leased. Project needs are determined for the organization down to the department level based on a broad array of guidelines, standards, regulatory requirements and mission priorities. The position evaluates how to accomplish the requirements of the project and determines the associated risks necessary to complete the construction within the healthcare facility and identify ways to mitigate project risk.

The position provides a broad review of all disciplines of Engineering when applied to a healthcare environment to support construction document reviews and preparation.

The position is a member as assigned to certain key committees including A/E Selection Committee, Construction Technical Evaluation Committee, and various Design Teams including construction projects where the incumbent acts as a project lead and may chair the committees.

B. Manages Healthcare Design and Construction Administration
The position uses independent seasoned engineering judgment in evaluating and performing scheduling and layout of operations, inspection, and surveillance of materials, methods, and equipment used in construction.

The position provides technical troubleshooting techniques to evaluate and provide in-depth forensic data to why specialized medical systems, utility and/or components of the facility have failed.

C. Performs Healthcare Construction Management and Post Project Activities
The position provides direction and guidance to the contractor for construction within the facility. Provides approvals on means and methods performance of work and how it is conducted within a medical environment to ensure impacts of the construction does not impact patient care operation or provides a risk to patients or staff.

The incumbent will independently determine the needs of the Veteran/caregiver and provide administrative support across inter-professional clinics and support centers. The MSA is responsible for scheduling and rescheduling appointments, referring patients to other medical specialty clinics, providing information to patients necessary to resolve complaints, interactions with both internal and external customers, reviewing and documenting clinical and administrative electronic health records (EHR); obtaining medical information from patients, coordination information and actions related to patient care and services; and scheduling appointments in accordance with VHA national scheduling guidelines. Independently performs a full range of duties related to the delivery of healthcare services at JJP VA Medical Center. The MSA advises clinical staff on current administrative processes, working collaboratively across administrative and clinical services at the medical center to address patient's needs. The MSA provides customer service with the ability to identify customer concerns, and refer to the appropriate staff, as necessary, to ensure a satisfactory resolution.

The MSA's responsibilities can include any point the Veteran interacts with the medical center while navigating their health services. This includes but is not limited to assistance with screening patients, visitors, and caregivers, assisting with Veteran's interaction with kiosks and self-service machines, clinic registration and scheduling. MSA will be required to communicate with Veterans through all patient outreach modalities including: JJP Call Center, VA Video Connect Appointments (VCC), VetText, and Vetlink.

The MSA will use advance knowledge of the health care process to ensure clinic utilization is optimized and effectively supports the needs of the organization and the Veterans. This requires practical knowledge of computerized data entry and information processing systems to enter, modify, and retrieve sensitive patient health information (PHI). These systems include electronic health records, consult referral tracking, and patient scheduling systems. MSAs will ensure clinic optimization through generating reports, administrative follow-up actions and evaluation of patient information and clinic schedules.

Responsibilities at this level may include, but are not limited to making independent decisions regarding: scheduling, canceling, re-scheduling patient appointments and/or consults; entering no-show information in accordance with VHA national scheduling guidelines; monitoring appointment requests from multiple electronic sources; gathering and obtaining medical information from patients; processing medication refill requests; reviewing electronic health record; obtaining medical records, faxing, participating in huddles with other MSAs and/or JJP Medical Center staff to determine the daily needs of the facility; monitoring outpatient appointments in areas of responsibility; and verifying and updating demographics when contacted by patients.

The MSA provides accurate details of organizational information to Veterans regarding the different services the VA offers. Project management: Assist senior staff members in planning, engineering management, operation, and overall coordination; and for providing advice, assistance and information on all matters related to assigned conventional projects of moderate complexity. Work typically requires coordination of project work requirements with other technical and administrative elements within the agency. Applies standardized knowledge of engineering principles, methods, techniques, and criteria to projects that are conventional in nature. Customer support: Serves as a central point-of-contact for status of all engineering work requests of a short-term nature. The Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional nurse with specialized knowledge and demonstrates advanced beginner skills when providing and directing care for patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), acute kidney injury (AKI), and late-stage chronic kidney disease (CKD). Collaborates with other disciplines/departments to achieve desired patient outcomes. Functions as primary nurse for ESRD patient panel and serves as key resource assisting patients navigate the healthcare system. Completes documentation for all clinical and technical recordkeeping in the electronic health record and treatment flowsheets in accordance with established policies and procedures. Monitors, tracks/trends, and reports ongoing care continuity needs and outcomes to the interdisciplinary team. The nurse will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization. • Participate in planning for bed flow/patient movement both within facility, VISN 22 and the community on a daily basis.
• Ensure staffing meets established nursing hours per patient day requirements, working with Nurse Managers throughout the facility to identify and share resources.
• Facilitation of smooth movement of patients in inter-facility VA transfers and transfers to and from the community setting through coordination of transportation arrangements.
