We are currently recruiting for a Band 3 Emergency Department Assistant, who is dynamic and self-motivated; to join our friendly multidisciplinary team helping to deliver high-class emergency care within the Emergency Department at Newham University Hospital.

The post holder will work with people who have complex mental health problems and forensic histories, who have been discharged into the community from secure psychiatric services. FOS offers community mental health services to clients from the 5 Boroughs of Wandsworth, Merton and Sutton, Kingston and Richmond.

Specialist training will be provided for particular aspects of the post as necessary. Working under the clinical supervision of the team forensic psychologist, the role will involve delivering psychological services to clients as part of the wider multidisciplinary team consisting of doctors, community psychiatric nurses, psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, and recovery support workers. In addition to client facing roles, the post holder will assist in clinically related administration, risk assessment, collection of statistics, development and implementation of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.

To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological intervention and/or management of a client’s problem, under clinical supervision.

To administer, score and contribute to the interpretation of psychometric assessments.

To assist in the development, coordination and co-facilitation of therapeutic groups.

To work with the Substance Misuse worker in assessing and delivering interventions with clients with identified substance misuse needs.

To contribute to team risk assessment and risk management for individual clients, including HCR-20 assessments.

Job Summary: Plan, supervise & prioritise daily workload within the section (e.g. inpatient dispensary or pharmacy store), producing and co-ordinating rotas to ensure adequate staffing & skill mix is maintained. To support the senior technical staff to ensure that the section runs efficiently and is patient and customer focused. Work closely with the lead pharmacy technician to ensure that the pharmacy assistants and apprentices training needs are met and that the relevant competencies are completed. Key Result Areas & Performance: Patient Care & Service Provision To effectively communicate with pharmacy colleagues and other healthcare professionals to answer routine and non-routine queries with prescriptions and orders, referring as necessary to a pharmacy technician or pharmacist. To undertake and supervise accurate dispensing and issuing of medicines to patients and/or ward areas. This will include; stock medicines, named patient medicines, unlicensed medicines, controlled drugs and clinical trials. Inform the appropriate senior pharmacy technician of any errors or operational issues in a timely manner completing any required documentation. Complete Trust incident reports where appropriate. To have the responsibility for the medicines top-up service to a designated ward/department and to provide cover if necessary. To be a trained super user for automated systems in the area of work (e.g. dispensing robots and dispensing cabinets). • We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-motivated and caring person to work in our modern and well-equipped Rapid Diagnostic Department to work within an interdisciplinary team of nursing, medical, paramedical and clerical staff, under the supervision of a registered nurse to provide quality patient services and assistance to meet health care needs.
• The Outpatient Department consists of a variety of outpatient clinics providing diagnostic and therapeutic outpatient care to the local community. The nursing service provides support for over 70 visiting clinicians from St Georges Trust to provide the full range of surgical and medical clinics.
• The post holder will be expected to work in all specialities within the department based both at the Nelson Health Centre and St Johns Therapy Centre but is expected to be assigned to all sites within STG.
• Assistance and supporting registered nurses and clinicians in clinic, chaperoning, recording vital signs (Escalation of EWS scores to NIC), Height, weight, urinalysis, venepunture etc
• Participate with monthly audits.
• To perform patient observations e.g. temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiration, urine testing, fluid balance charts, height & weight and to record these correctly in the patient’s records, reporting any abnormality or change in these to a qualified nurse.
