You will work in a recently refurbished unit that meets the requirements of the JAG environmental checklist supporting best practice and patient experience. We have an on-site training room and are a spoke unit to the NW Endoscopy training academy. The Endoscopy unit is a busy JAG accredited Unit undertaking diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. As an Endoscopy staff nurse you will be trained to rotate around all sub specialities within the unit. This includes Colonoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy, Capsule Endoscopy, ERCP, Bronchoscopy, EBUS, EUS, and Enteroscopy. We also perform Therapeutic and Palliative stenting PEG, NJ insertion, In-patient endoscopy, GA Endoscopy and 24 hour 7 days a week GI Bleeds service, you will be involved in admission, procedure support & discharge and in-patient assessment.
· To work as a registered nurse within the specialism of within the SACCT Division
· To prioritise and deliver holistic nursing care and assessment as required.
· To demonstrate high standards of care and set examples of best practice within the delivery of outpatient and inpatient care.
· To follow standards as guided by our accreditation bodies to ensure best practice in all patient care.
· To engage in development of pathways by taking on a champion role within the nursing team.
· To ensure patients’ safety, privacy and dignity is maintained at all times and raise any issues of concern relating to this.
· To support the nurse in charge, unit coordinators and further MDT members to deliver and maintain all safety and quality standards.
· To liaise with other departments and professionals to ensure that the safety and experiential needs of all unit patients are met.
· To be a patient advocate at all times.
· To participate in continual professional development through self-guidance and formal training sessions in house or at another training facility.
· To actively engage in the JETS training programme for endoscopy
· You will be mentored to develop and eventually lead in all areas of Endoscopy within a timescale that is realistic and achievable.
· Once trained you will work independently within the scope of your own registration and nursing judgement to assess, plan and implement care to patients undergoing endoscopy procedures.
· You will always be part of a wider and supportive team who use collaborative judgement to assess, plan and implement care to patients undergoing endoscopy procedures.
· To take charge of the unit following appropriate development
· To oversee patient safety and flow and coordinate the effective running of the unit and monitor care delivered by other staff.
· To engage in meetings as appropriate.
