An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic Staff Nurse to join our highly skilled and friendly team on Sanderson Suite.

The post holder should have substantial post registration experience, within an acute surgical setting. Surgical Nursing knowledge is an essential aspect of this role.

Sanderson Suite is a Nurse Led Unit, caring for day case surgery patients in our state of the art facilities at St Helens Hospital. The Department is a challenging yet rewarding place to work, providing 5-star patient care to all of our visitors.

The Unit is open Monday to Saturday, and the successful candidate will be expected to work Saturdays as per duty rota.

An Enhanced DBS with barred lists for both Adults & Children is required for this post.

A Full time 10 PA Inpatient Specialty Doctor Post to a female 22 Bed acute Mental health Ward

The role involves helping the consultant psychiatrist with daily tasks such as participation in ward reviews, mental health act paperwork and Tribunal related work. Supporting the junior doctors on the team alongside wider MDT working.

There are ample opportunities for career growth and development. It is expected that successful applicants participate in departmental management and clinical governance.

Alongside other senior trainees within the department the successful applicant will be expected to provide leadership and support to junior doctors within the department.

The post involves Inpatient service based on North Ward, Irwell unit single sex Female ward 22 beds capacity. The doctor will join a friendly, well-established inpatient working Age Psychiatry Service which altogether includes one full-time Consultant, one full-time speciality doctor and at least two trainee doctor-a GP trainee and an FY2 dr . The team works closely with CMHT sectors the EIT team and Home treatment team.

Support the delivery of key quality and performance indicators and evidence impact relating to Mental Health approaches and care, including the experience of patients and families. To provide enhanced specialist level supervision and guidance, using person-centred care, therapeutic skills, sharing of knowledge, evidence-based practice and critical reflective practice.

To respond to referrals made to the duty team from a variety of sources. To prioritise work according to the level of urgency. To work closely with young people, their carers and other professionals in order to facilitate a safe plan of care. To support tier 3 CAMHS with young people who are awaiting allocation of a Lead Practitioner, therapeutic work or are waiting for an initial assessment with therapeutic interventions. To respond to referrals from A&E and acute hospital wards and carry out comprehensive assessments including risk assessment and safety care planning. To ensure high quality communication and effective relationships within the Duty and Liaison Team and our general hospital colleagues, other agencies and carers. To work with general hospital staff providing interventions and support to patients who are staying on acute hospital wards awaiting the allocation of appropriate mental health services.

A vacancy has arisen within the St Helens Childen and Young Persons Mental Health Services (CYPMHS) team for a qualified CBT Therapist. The post holder will provide a specialised role in the development and implementation of services and care pathways for children and young people with mental health [CYPMH] problems within the THRIVE Framework for service delivery.

Working in St Helens CYPMHS, you will be responsible for providing highly specialist cognitive behaviour therapy for children and young people experiencing complex psychological and socioenvironmental problems. This is in line with national and local drivers and within the Thrive model framework which is the delivery model for CYPMHS in Mersey Care. You will also support other staff including trainees and be expected to offer supervision where appropriate.

The postholder will provide high-intensity interventions - initially cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) in the perinatal period. To accept referrals and agreed protocols within the service and work as part of an MDT.

Clinical:

Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the specialist perinatal service.

Assess clients for suitability for psychological interventions in line with the specialist perinatal psychological model of care.

Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the department’s referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary.

Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for women and birthing people in the perinatal period.

Use highly developed communication skills in working with people to understand their personal and often very sensitive difficulties, including bonding and attachment difficulties.

To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of women and birthing people in line with the service.

Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary, conveying CBT and other psychological formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language, and all the while keeping the baby, couple and family in mind.

Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.

Assess and integrate issues surrounding the wider context of people's lives into the overall therapy process.

Carry out clinical audits of service performance, including service user surveys and evaluations, and help to collate and disseminate the results for feedback.

Liaise with other health and social care staff from a range of agencies in the care provided clients.

Provide specialist advice and consultation to other professionals / individuals / groups / committees across Parent-Infant Mental Health Services, Maternity, Health Visiting, Mental Health Trusts, Primary Care Trusts and other voluntary agencies regarding service matters related
to the practice and delivery of specific agreed therapeutic modalities and service provision.

Training and Supervision:

Attend and fulfil all the requirements of the Specialist Perinatal Service approved supervision training and whole service training programme in perinatal mental health.

Contribute to the teaching and training of mental health professionals and other staff working in the service.

After completion of supervision training, supervise staff in the service.

Professional:

Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating, professional and accrediting bodies (e.g., BPS, UKCP, BABCP), and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the Department of Health (e.g., NHS plan, National Service Framework, National Institute for Clinical Excellence).

Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times.

Be aware of and keep up to date with advances in the spheres of CBT and other psychological therapies in the perinatal period.

Ensure clear professional objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with senior therapists on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development (CPD).

Attend clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basis as agreed with Manager and Consultant Clinical Psychologist.

Participate in individual performance review and respond to agreed objectives.

Keep up to date all records in relation to CPD and ensure personal development plan maintains up to date specialist knowledge of latest theoretical and service delivery models/developments.

Attend relevant conferences / workshops relevant to perinatal and parent-infant mental health, in line with identified professional objectives.

Participate in service improvement by highlighting issues and implementing changes in practice.

Advisory / Liaison:

Provide an advisory service on matters related to the practice and delivery of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to individuals/groups/committees across the Mental Health Trust, Primary Care Trust and other voluntary agencies.

Promote and maintain links within the wider system to help co-ordinate the provision of an effective Psychological Therapies Service.

General:
To contribute to the development of best practice within the service.

To maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and procedures in relation to Perinatal and Parent-Infant Mental Health, Maternity, Health Visiting and Primary Care Services.

To work within the Special Care Dental Administrative Team, to enter data on Dental R4 software and SystmOne relating to referrals into the dental clinics and domiciliary service, to book and cancel appointments within the R4 diary and communicate with professional staff and the general public with tact and sensitivity.
