The person in this role will be the expert in veterinary medicines, ensuring the safe storage, preparation, and supply in line with legal requirements. The successful candidate will assume the role of Responsible Pharmacist at the dispensing facility.

What you’ll be doing?
Ensuring the safe preparation and supply of veterinary medicines, ensuring that all dispensing errors and near misses are logged in accordance with the company’s procedures and to undertake any activity necessary to rectify/prevent errors and maintaining the controlled drugs register
Implementing and adopting standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure procedures are in place for the avoidance of risk, and working with key teams across the business (customer service, purchasing, operations & clinical department)
Counselling and advising customers on the treatment of minor animal ailments and any adverse side effects of medicines or potential interactions with other medicines/treatments to ensure safe use and general health/animal lifestyle matters
Supervising and training other pharmacy staff (including Suitably Qualified Persons)
Undertaking activities that support the strategic objectives to maximise the profit and potential of the business, and meeting set targets to meet business demand
Liaising with veterinary surgeons about prescriptions to ensure accuracy, legitimacy and prevent risk
Overseeing the ordering, storage and dispatch of medicines to ensure safety and reduce waste
Keeping up to date with current veterinary pharmacy practice, new drugs and their uses for the purpose of continuing professional development (CPD)
Maintaining computerised records in accordance with data protection principles to ensure patient confidentiality
Check that all queries/responses regarding prescriptions are communicated to customer service within the service level agreement (SLA) to ensure patient safety
Who are we looking for?
GPhC registered with a degree in Pharmacy
Good understanding of e-Commerce principles/business rationale and the ability to initiate and implement decisions that will achieve business goals and previous experience in working with KPI’s
Previous supervisory experience and ability to motivate and develop team skills
IT literate and quick to learn new systems
Efficient, accurate and can ensure the effective use and control of resources
Commitment to CPD
Willingness to utilise veterinary pharmacy skills and knowledge to develop services to meet the needs of the community
Strong communication skills with a professional, tactful and friendly attitude
Demonstrates drive, initiative and proactivity and a patient first mindset
Flexible and willing to support with overtime and weekend cover when needed
