The role

We are looking for a unique individual to support with the difficult task of changing the bandages of our 15 year male client who suffers from a chronic skin condition called Epidermolysis bullosa (EB). The client has bandages over the majority of his body which are covering open wounds and blisters which require specific care to avoid infection. As a Functional Assessor, your main task will be to assess individuals and how their disabilities or conditions affect their work life. Drawing on your clinical expertise, you'll listen carefully and take down each person's medical history before performing a physical examination. You'll then produce concise, accurate reports for the Department of Work & Pensions (DWP) so they can decide each person's eligibility for benefits.

The role involves meeting people both face-to-face and via telephone/video. But whether you connect online or in person, you'll be sensitive, compassionate and able to ask the right questions while upholding best practice standards.

Rest assured that you'll have the time you need to make a precise assessment and give each person your whole attention. And while you'll work unsupervised, you'll be part of a wider multi-disciplinary team - support is all part of the package.

About you

• An HCPC Registered Pharmacist with a minimum of 12 months' post-registration experience within the past five years.
• Continuous Professional Development present on your CV.
• Great oral and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and respond to a rapidly changing environment.
• IT skills and experience of using a range of software
• Self-aware and focused on professional development
• Honest and able to maintain integrity and customer confidentiality

We are looking for 2 x Band 6 Occupational Therapists to join our Stroke Service and Neurotherapy team at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust.

· One post will be static within the Stroke Unit at RBH, covering the Hyper Acute and Recovery unit.

· One post will be static within our Early Supported Discharge Team offering intensive, specialist rehabilitation to stroke and neuro patients within their own homes.

The successful applicants will be required to provide neurological skilled Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment to clients with complex neurological problems, including assessment, neuro specialist rehabilitation, discharge planning and appropriate onward referral. We are looking for 2 innovative Occupational Therapists who are keen to develop their skills at a senior level, who can demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to implement evidence-based practice.

This role requires HCPC Registration.

The team is an integrated Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy team. Work within these posts provides an ideal opportunity to develop skills in stroke and neuro assessment and early rehabilitation, supervision of junior staff/students and positive influence on patient care and service development.

The post holders will be supported by experienced Band 7 therapists across the pathway.

The skills/experience required for this post are as follows:
• Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
• Post-graduate experience of working with adults with neurological impairments
• Involvement in supervision and/or appraisal of junior staff
• Car owner/driver
