An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 7 Occupational Therapist to be part of a new Vocational Rehabilitation Service across West Essex and Hertfordshire. This is a shared commissioned service between EPUT, CLCH and HCT NHS Trusts and is being hosted by EPUT.

The OT will work as part of an MDT to support patients following a stroke overcome obstacles to accessing, maintaining or returning to employment or other useful occupations or to support with a dignified exit from work if this should be the patient’s desired outcome.

The team will consist of a senior OT, Speech and Language Therapist and Clinical Neuropsychologist. The role of the senior occupational Therapists alongside the MDT will be to carry out assessments, provide information, explore and support with generic and/or specific work skills In order to set goals and work towards a patients desired outcome.

As this is a service working across three sites within West Essex and Hertfordshire there will be an expectation to travel. There will be an opportunity for Service development and leadership experience.



The post holder will be part of the provision of a new Vocational Rehabilitation service across Hertfordshire and West Essex.

The post holder will be responsible for providing expert Vocational Rehab service (VRS) to stroke survivors within the Herts and West Essex ICS. To assess and treat a caseload of stroke survivor patients as an autonomous practitioner.

The post holder will be responsible for the clinical development of the VRS within the team.

The post holder will be an OT clinical lead in VRS and provide clinical expertise to members of the team and staff within outpatient clinics, community services, groups and also virtually. This role will require travel across the ICB area of Herts and West Essex.

An Introduction to the EMHP Programme at UEA The EMHP Programme at UEA uses blended learning, comprised of face-to-face teaching at UEA and online teaching, self-directed study days and supervised practice within employing MHSTs to allow trainees to develop the required clinical competence and confidence relevant to the role of an EMHP. Our team have extensive experience of working psychologically with children and young people across a range of settings and interventions. The teaching team includes lecturers with experience of delivering low intensity mental health interventions - who can use their experience to support, model and teach these skills positively alongside those with expertise in the field of children and young peoples mental health and education. We also use a range of external Associate Tutors and Guest lecturers to support teaching. Throughout the year are a range of assessments and assignments to demonstrate learning outcomes and assess clinical skills and competency. In addition to learning the theory and practice for delivering evidence-based low intensity assessments and treatments for children and young people, taught modules will cover how to work in, understand the processes of, and engage with education settings. Contribute professional expertise to current service provision and future service developments. Undertake highly specialist clinical work Provide Speech and Language Therapy advice to other disciplines, providing training, supervision and support as required. Carry out professional leadership responsibilities as delegated by the Head of Older Persons Community Therapy (Mental Health). Undertake research and other tasks that contribute to the implementation of the Trust Strategy for Allied Health Professions.

You will join our friendly and dedicated multidisciplinary Older Persons Community and in-patients Mental Health Therapy Service. We have monthly, clinically focused, departmental meetings where cases are discussed and we learn from each other. You will receive regular professional supervision and professional development is positively encouraged. We are supportive of flexible and home working. Clinical Duties: To manage complex and specialist caseload independently. To manage and prioritise own workload and caseload independently. To assess clients referred for specialist Speech and Language Therapy. To utilise specialist assessments when presented with complex cases. To undertake treatment planning, communicating and negotiating treatment plans and clinical reasoning for intervention with clients and their carers. To develop clear care plans based on best practice. To provide specialist professional advice regarding the management and care of patients with dementia &/or feeding and swallowing difficulties, where appropriate. To make decisions on the level of treatment intervention required. To communicate agreed treatment/care plans to multi-disciplinary team colleagues and partnership agencies and liaise with them at formal and informal meetings. Qualifications needed:

· Full GMC Registration with a license to practice

· Mastery in the management of a broad range of physical health conditions in babies, children, and young people, including neurodevelopmental disorders

You will be expected to:

· Work as part of multidisciplinary teams providing care tobabies, children, and young people across Barking and Dagenham.

· Provide senior medical support and guidance to the team

· Work directly with babies, children and young people, and their families and liaise as appropriate with other external health providers and acute hospitals
