We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to cover an assignment with the Ministry of Defence (MoD), at RAF Coningsby Medical Centre, in Lincoln, Lincolnshire.

This is a full-time locum role (37.5 hours per week) and the successful candidate will deliver an exceptional standard of care to the MoD service personnel.

Healthcare Assistant – Essential Requirements:

· Must have a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ/SVQ) Level 3 in Health and Social Care (or an equivalent Healthcare related NVQ).
· Must have a minimum of 2 years recent experience within the last 3 years of working in general practice or other healthcare environment as a HCA.
· Must be in date for Basic Life Support (BLS), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and Safeguarding Children and Young People and Vulnerable Adults Level 2 training.
· Must be able to provide certificates of training, as undertaken within the last three years, and/or be able to provide proof of clinical competency from a previous employer or Line Manager, who is a current registered healthcare professional, in:
• Recording ECGs
• Perfoming Venepuncture
• Performing urinalysis
• Preparation of specimens
• Undertaking simple dressing procedures
• Using aseptic technique

Healthcare Assistant – Service Requirements:

· To provide general basic nursing care under indirect supervision of the practice nurse team, undertaking tasks and duties delegated by a suitably qualified regulated professional.
· To provide clinical administrative support as required.
· To work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, following policy and procedures alongside nurses and administrative staff in the service and delivery of the care management of the practice population.
· To assist the Medical Officer’s (MOs) and practice nurse teams within Primary Health Care clinics, Occupational Health assessment clinics, chronic disease clinics, health promotion.
· To provide a range of clinical measurements, visual acuity, Electrocardiogram (ECG), venepuncture, peak flow readings, spirometry, urinalysis and preparation of specimens for investigation.
· To communicate effectively with patients in specific clinical situations.

Work with the childrens health service developing and maintaining appropriate relationships with individuals, families, service users, stakeholders, and support an integrated provision of services to children, young people, and their families as part of the Council's Early Help approach Where relevant, liaise with other members of the 0-19 (25, SEND) children's services workforce e.g., early help, social care and outside agencies to identify/agree how the needs of the child or young person are best met and when/where additional support is required. Under the supervision of the Health Visitor or Senior Childrens and Young Peoples Nurse, deliver specific health interventions/care programmes based on individual health needs assessments to children and young people on a child protection plan, child in need, TAC and ESCO relevant to the child's individual needs and act in accordance with safeguarding policy and procedures. Attending child protection conferences, core groups, child in need meetings as allocated, with support and guidance from the Health Visitor or Senior Childrens and Young Peoples Nurse. Utilise specialist clinical skills using evidence-based practice to identify any risks and needs in protecting children and adhere to agreed safeguarding policies and procedures of Childrens Services Directorate and Lincolnshire Safeguarding Children Partnership / Lincolnshire Domestic Abuse Partnership . Under the supervision of the Health Visitor or Senior Childrens and Young Peoples Nurse act as lead professional where relevant and the child or young person is in receipt of a children and young people's health intervention/care programme. Provide mentorship and community experience for pre-registration students. The role will also provide 1-1 support, guidance and supervision for Family Health Workers where required. This will also include the provision of appraisals for Family Health Workers. Support managers within Children's Services in the delivery of operational objectives, plans and targets and to review and monitor these to improve team / directorate policy by operating effectively as a member of the Children's Services Directorate. Participate in the development of quality intervention and excellent standards through quality audits. Act as a role model to others helping them to manage uncertainty and to respond positively and creatively to change. Work flexibly as required across the core hours of the service 8-8pm including weekends The post holder will maintain their own expert level of clinical competence and maintain a professional profile and Nursing and Midwifery Council revalidation requirements. The post holder will receive clinical supervision and safeguarding supervision to support their own practice.
