DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide a supportive role within the SACT unit at the Christie at Macclesifled for nursing, medical and clerical Staff. Undertake the nursing care of patients, ensuring privacy & dignity is maintained whilst being aware of physical and psychological needs To give a clear and accurate update at change of duties and ensure accurate documentation of nursing interventions To participate in the rehabilitation of patients and give any necessary instructions, including discharge information Participate in nursing procedures appropriate to the department Support and assist in the induction/training of junior staff/Health Care Assistants acting as mentor to designated staff To welcome patients to the unit and its routine Be able to act as ward co-ordinator and ensure the safe and timely management of patients To liaise with medical and non medical personnel and community organisations Rotate to ground floor clinic management where required so support in outpatients. To highlight areas of improvement/development within the department and undertake relevant projects To act as support for other nurses in relation to SACT and oncology care Safely deliver SACT to Christie patients attending the unit Assist in the provision of meals / refreshments for patients whilst meeting their nutritional needs Assist in the general housekeeping duties of the unit. Help to maintain a safe environment and report faults/risks etc to the nurse in charge Liaise with nurse responsible for stores/stationery and ordering and assist in the maintenance of stock levels Handles patients personal possessions, ensure cash and valuables kept securely Correct care and custody of controlled drugs and aid the safe storage of medicines and the return of any unused chemotherapy to pharmacy Assist medical staff with procedures Demonstrates the agreed set of values and accountable for own attitude and behaviour EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT The staff nurse is responsible for their own personal development and maintaining a personal development plan To complete the Ward introductory pack and preceptor pack Complete Clinical Skills Training and the UKONs SACT passport Annually attend all mandatory study days including Resuscitation, AIMs, moving & handling and fire safety To complete level 3 SACT administration programme to administer cytotoxic drugs and educate patients regarding their treatment To be working towards band 6 equivalent competency pack PERSONAL Demonstrate a pleasant and approachable manner and help create and promote a good working relationship Show professional and courteous manner when answering the telephone and other enquires Maintain confidentiality with regard to patient information both at work and outside of working hours To be aware of and adhere to all policies including; sickness and absence, confidentiality, uniform and responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act Report and record all accidents and complaints according to the agreed policy To be aware of limitations and utilise the preceptor system for any issues that arise To show respect for members of the team and endorse the SACT Day Services philosophy of giving mutual support

NRL’s client has a need for Health & Safety Advisor to join them on a permanent basis at their site in Macclesfield.

Purpose

To ensure the achievement of excellent health and safety management by providing professional health and safety advice throughout the Company to support the effective management of health & safety requirements and compliance with all current statutory and regulatory regulation.

Key Responsibilities

- To underpin Group Health & Safety practices by ensuring that workplace risk assessments, health and safety inspections and audits are undertaken to the highest quality standards.

- To provide health and safety advice to all employees to ensure the successful implementation and achievement of Health and Safety Management in conjunction with both the annual Group Health and Safety Policy and Health and Safety Manual.

- To ensure that all events are investigated thoroughly, ensuring root cause is established and any recommendations for improvement are implemented to prevent any future re-occurrences.

- To take an active role in both Group and individual business unit 45001 audits.

- Liaison with external agencies to ensure the Group policies, procedures and practices meet with all of the current statutory and legislative procedures.

- To undertake regular health and safety inspections and audits at selected offices and operating sites. Providing clear and concise audit documentation after each inspection.

- Ensure that any H&S non-conformances that are identified at each location are communicated to the Responsible Person at the end of the H&S visit and that a documented non-conformance report is provided – with instructions on how to compile and where to communicate. All serious non-conformances with the potential to harm must be resolved before the Duty Holder leaves the location.

- Continually refresh, maintain and update H&S Management File – ensuring that all employees have been trained in both the understanding and operation of the contents of their individual H&S files and the requirements of the Health and Safety Systems.

- To attend Project Kick-Off and Close-Out Meetings where and when required – both internally and Client generated.

- Transport new ideas and innovation into the H&S Management System where relevant and communicate these around the Group.

- Preparation of project specific Construction Phase Plans on an “as and when” required basis.

- To attend all Client Health and Safety Meetings

- To deliver various training courses and presentations as appropriate to the activities of the company.

- To advise and coach all employees and staff on cultural and behavioural issues.
- To advise all employees and staff on wellbeing, occupational health and safety risks including arranging occupational health surveillance alongside the HR department.

Skills Knowledge
Essential Skills

- Good working knowledge and understanding of all relevant statutory and legislative Health and Safety regulations.

- Pharmaceutical experience.

- Familiarity of insurance legislation and practice.

- Familiarity with QA systems and compliance.

- Well-developed people management and communication skills inclusive of performance management processes for leadership, coaching and development of staff.

- Good IT skills.

Desirable Skills

- Well developed negotiating and influencing skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation and with clients, suppliers and sub-contractors.
- To continue to develop and enhance professional skills through a continuous personal development programme i.e. IOSH or equivalent.

As our site operations are undertaken throughout the UK – then there will be a requirement for the Duty Holder to spend time away from home.
Qualifications

- A current NEBOSH certificate is the minimum requirements.
- You will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of providing an excellent Health and Safety service for an organisation.
- You will possess excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational, professional and personal presentation skills when liaising with all levels of staff, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
