The Nurse IV Program Manager functions as an administrator, educator and consultant utilizing management theory in collaboration with leadership in the Office of Academic Affiliations, the Office of Nursing Services, and external entities, including academic institutions and accrediting bodies. The incumbent reports to the Director, Nursing Education.
Major Duties may include, but are limited to:
- Provides executive input in the strategic planning, budget, mission, operational planning, and policy development for the Office of Academic Affiliations Nursing Education programs.
- Utilizes nursing, clinical, and academic knowledge and high level analytical and management skills to evaluate current and future processes and recommend improvements to achieve the clinical and administrative goals of the OAA.
- Assists in developing of policies and procedures related to program implementation at the national and local levels based on national, professional (for example, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education), VHA, and federal standards and regulations.
- Demonstrates substantial and continuous responsibility for directing and managing integrated programs to cultivate collaborative and productive working relationships.
- Provides leadership in the development of policies and systems to devise strategies that will enable the organization to successfully manage educational and trainee issues and protect the rights of all persons involved.
- Provides leadership in determining the allocation of resources (financial, human, material and/or informational) based on educational processes and programs that produce high quality outcomes.
- Mentors and coaches the nursing staff, including program directors, faculty, and other stakeholders, who work with or participate in the undergraduate and graduate nursing residency and training education programs.
- Provides a leadership role in professional, community, and governmental bodies that shape educational and health care policy, contributing to the development and improvement of nursing education.
