We are a busy Technical Services Unit within the Pharmacy Department at York Hospital. Our aseptic services unit is a specialised service preparing bespoke chemotherapy, Monoclonal Antibodies as well as some Parenteral Nutrition products and a small range of other IV products.

Suitable candidates would be required to work in a cleanroom environment where duties are interesting and varied. Duties range from cleaning, maintaining, and monitoring of the cleanroom environment and equipment and stock management of drugs and consumables.

You will be required to participate in the aseptic preparation of medicines. This involves working at a pharmaceutical isolator preparing a range of intravenous medication. Full training will be given.

You will also be required to participate in the decontamination and disinfection of the aseptic unit. The aseptic unit is a sterile, clean room environment where the preparation of pharmaceutical products takes place. You will also undertake some environmental monitoring duties which are essential in ensuring that the environment remains in a controlled state.

There are also administration tasks to undertake as well as stock management activities such as stock checks, receipt of stock and expiry date checks. We are looking for a conscientious individual who will take a methodical approach to a task and who appreciates the importance of following procedures.

The entry banding for this role is either a Band 2 or Band 3. This is dependent on prior Pharmacy qualifications and experience. This will be discussed at Interview. Once fully trained and qualified the post will be a Band 3. This is a fulfilling role in itself but it is also a great steppingstone into Pharmacy with many different opportunities for career development.

The Lead Medical Support Assistant is responsible for the coordination of Advanced MSA assignments and workflow in the Health Administrative Service. The Lead MSA is responsible for daily workload assessments, assigning work, and assuring proper staffing coverage; evaluating training records; and determining training needs of MSAs to provide support across interdisciplinary settings.

The Lead assists the unit with complex and non-standard procedures, including clinical flow processes related to access to care across multiple clinics, specialties, and/or community resources.

The Lead MSA is also responsible for ensuring accurate and timely scheduling of clinic appointments; monitoring productivity of the schedulers, providing guidance to staff members, to include changes in policies and procedures; creating and maintaining employee work schedules; and acting as a liaison among Advanced MSA staff, patients, providers from a variety of specialties and other interdisciplinary staff to resolve day-to-day conflicts. • Handles emergent issues of an administrative nature related to patient concerns, involving Department Chiefs and Managers as necessary. Resolution of such issues involves coordination with administrative officers and managers from other departments within the facility. Solves problems independently and coordinates with staff throughout the Service related to patient care.

Administrative Management

• Provides direct support to the Service Chief to include analyzing, evaluating, advising, and coordinating systems and operations with designated Sections.
• Manages and maintains FPPE/OPPE folders for all providers practicing under the auspices of the Department of Medicine in accordance with facility policies and procedures. Coordinates and performs documentation maintenance required by the Credentialing & Privileging Manager for the facility.
• Performs data analysis and prepares reports on workload, patient care referral programs, personnel utilization, work schedules and overtimes.
• Monitors the effectiveness of programs, evaluating and identifying problem areas and implementing and initiating corrective action when appropriate.
• Manages incoming residents, interacts with the Education Office, tracks resident schedules, maintains resident timecards,
  coordinates onboarding, and works with preceptors to ensure the program is properly managed.
• Handles and resolves patient complaints within the appropriate scope of responsibility.
• The incumbent is a highly visible member of the healthcare team and works with all levels of management and professional staff daily, participating in discussions regarding policy issues, resource allocation, system problems and coordination of services. Incumbent may be called upon to investigate and report on special assignments and projects.
• Positive communication is a priority in patient care. The incumbent must be able to speak clearly, in person or telephonically, one-on-one or to a group. Must maintain responsibility for what is communicated.

Human Resources and Contracting

• Incumbent acts as the liaison with the Human Resources office concerning personnel-related matters.
• Drafts and reviews all contract proposals and agreements to assure accurate budgetary and administrative arrangements. Audits contract invoices for accuracy in services rendered, dates, etc. Provides advisement to management on contracting and procurement policies and issues.
• Performs budget execution functions to ensure expenditures are consistent with budget formulation plans as the fiscal year progresses for designated Sections within the Medical Service.

Administrative Policy and Procedure Implementation

• Interprets administrative policies, develops, and implements local policies, defines administrative requirements, and provides advice on requirements, maintains administrative systems, and prepares administrative documents.

Starting at $61,727 Per Year (GS 9)

Duties performed include but are not limited to the following:

• Perform 2-D Echocardiographic imaging, M-Mode tracing, derived from the 2D image, continuous wave and pulsed wave Doppler flow velocity recordings, color flow Doppler imaging.

• Perform stress echocardiography which involves evaluation of patients with ischemic heart disease and a thorough understanding of wall motion abnormalities and the corresponding coronary artery perfusion regions.

• Pharmacologic stress agents and the performance of exercise or additional methods that expand the diagnostic capability of echocardiography.

• Use of contrast agents may be incorporated into any of the imaging modalities.

• Assist physician in performing invasive trans-esophageal echocardiography which may include facilitating cardiac surgeons in operating room setting.

• Capture and store digital images, analyzing digital findings to obtain optimal resolution.

• Makes high quality recordings of M mode, two dimensional and M Mode echograms and Pulsed, continuous wave and color Doppler for interpretation by physicians of the Cardiology Section.

• Performs emergency echocardiograms in the Intensive Care Unit and the Emergency Room.

• Accurately measures recordings and compiles patient echocardiograph data for report generation.

• Efficiently schedules inpatient and outpatient appointments so as to minimize delays and backlogs, giving priority to more urgent studies.

• Completes inpatient and outpatient consults within the timeframes designated by the institution.

• Maintains accurate and up to date files of all studies performed and assists in the maintenance of an efficient filing system.

• Completes all encounter forms for both inpatient and outpatient studies.

• Enters all echo reports in patient records in the computer in a timely fashion.

• Performs routine daily cleaning and preventive maintenance on all apparatus used for echocardiography and promptly reports any malfunctions or deficiencies.

• Ensures timely ordering of expendable supplies needed for echocardiography.

• Routinely records TEE's, Stress Echos, and Stress TEE and checks for shunts in heart by Bubble Study.
