The standard hours of work are
39 hours per week, across 7 days when the weekend shift pattern is in place.
You will be responsible for:

• Planned and preventative electrical maintenance.
• Diagnosing and replacing failed domestic electrical components.
• Responding to breakdowns, ensuring all works are carried out under the appropriate Safe System of Work and in a timely manner.
• Actively fault-finding / problem-solving on domestic electrical systems across the prison.
• Undertaking electrical installation activities in accordance with the design provided and IET Wiring Regulations.
• Testing and inspecting electrical installations in accordance with the current IEE wiring regulations.
• Monitoring and ordering critical spares for all electrical services.
• Other tasks as required by the Site
• Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.

What makes this role unique is
You will test and inspect electrical installations across prison facilities in accordance with the 18th IEE wiring regulations as amended from time to time. Prison Security Clearance will be required (Amey will support you through this process).
We want to hear from you if you have/are:

• Appropriate technical qualifications e.g. City & Guilds 2365 parts 1-3, BTEC, NVQ level 3 or above
• BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, specifically 18th Edition*.
• Experience of electrical maintenance activities, general distribution and installation and testing.
• Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at work Regulations.
• Capable of working at heights.
• Ability to work alone and use initiative.

Ideally, you will be qualified for the 18th Edition (however, if you currently only have 17th Edition, we will sponsor you to upgrade to the 18th Edition; terms and conditions apply) with experience in electrical maintenance within a commercial environment.
In addition to this, it would be desirable if you had IT skills and experience in fire alarm systems and CCTV systems to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.

You will be well supported in your role, they have forward thinking Directors who we have come to know personally and love.

In recent months we have introduced to them an Operations Director who is both personable and incredibly diligent, he is already making an incredible difference and has been well received by the other Home Managers.

Autonomy is still really important to them, they want their managers to feel comfortable in leading their teams as they see fit, after all this will be your home, your business.

Is this job for me?

So if you are an experienced Home Manager looking for a new chapter in your career, this could be it.

Maybe you are an experienced Home Manager that has not yet been able to open your own new service, but would jump at the chance to.

You could be a nurse or non nurse manager, but with the benefit of having led clinicians before, after all this is a nursing home.

A good knowledge of the CIW or CQC with a history of good reports will be important.

You will have achieved your NVQ 5 in Leadership and Management or be working towards it.

Experienced Deputy Managers may also be considered.
