The Registered Nurse - Nurse Recruiter is responsible for providing proficient, evidence-based practices in relation to recruitment and retention for the medical center and CBOC's. The Nurse Recruiter serves as the key member in delivering and improving the processes of recruitment, onboarding, and retention of Registered Nurses, Practical Nurses, and Nursing Assistants. The Incumbent will use nursing practice, clinical knowledge, and data to assess, plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate recruitment and retention efforts of nursing staff.
The Nurse Recruiter must identify highly qualified talent for their facilities who aligns with the mission of caring for Veterans by utilizing clinical knowledge, skills, and abilities to personalize the experience for the candidate, improve the recruitment and retention experience for all stakeholders' and deliver compassionate nurses ready to provide care.
Job Duties Include but are not limited to:
- Seek to develop strategic partnership with internal(facility leadership, current nursing staff, HR) and external (colleges, universities, associations) stakeholders to garner an applicable pipeline of candidates.
- Utilizes clinical practice to assess the knowledge and experience of the candidate to assure they are in alignment with the outlined job requirements.
- Possess knowledge and experience of the candidate requirements and will clarify information to ensure a best fit for the candidate and the organization.
- Utilize the nursing process to continually improve the nursing candidate's onboarding experience to ensure candidate's clinical experience and expertise aligns with the agency's mission.
- Analyze recruitment and retention data to assist the facility with development of nursing workforce strategies and initiatives.
- Proactively work with the Nurse Managers to develop retention strategies, fostering a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals.
- Function as a collaborator in assisting the improvement processes, programs, resources, and services related to recruitment and retention.
- Maintain databases, prepares, reports, and works collaboratively with others to assess variances and project needs.
- Work collaboratively with nursing administration, leadership, and Human Resources Management Service to meet resource needs.
- Utilize guidance in developing recommendations for systems and/or resource changes that will serve to improve the workforce and resource utilization.
