Our Tech Team at Santander is growing, and we are looking for Unix Team Technical Manager to help us continue leading the way in innovative banking.
You will be at the heart of the Santander IT Delivery supporting a large Linux/Unix estate of over 17000 servers. In this pivotal role you will lead 16 professionals to provide a stable, evergreen Linux/Unix platform with a mixture of Virtual and Physical servers including a small AIX/Solaris estate.

The difference you'll make:
- Managing and reporting on the lifecycle of the estate so every CI is clearly understood
- Supporting the team of Linux/Unix professionals, ensuring operational coverage and efficient use of resources
- Providing pragmatic technical leadership to ensure problems and requests are clearly understood and correctly prioritised based on risk, commercial or operational demands
- Driving Continual service improvement, proactively review incident, problem and change management queues Understand root causes, trends and build plans and strategies accordingly for the team
- Collaborating and agreeing technical standards across decision makers, providing reports and documentation
What you'll bring:
- Experience of running an operational team and team management in a fast-moving business critical enterprise environment
- Ability to influence in a pragmatic way to reach business goals
- SME level technical skill level in Linux/Unix with vendor qualifications
- Must be able to demonstrate ITIL framework knowledge and ability to influence and prioritize change, problems, DR plans and requests to successful timely conclusions
- Advanced logical troubleshooting skills with the ability to influence the team and reduce MTTR and implement follow up RCA tasks to reduce repeat incidents
- Commercial awareness and operational planning experience
It would also be nice for you to have:
- Non-Linux/Unix vendor qualifications and wider IT technical awareness and understanding of how different technologies interact your area of responsibility
- Experience within a Banking or regulated environment
- Agile ways of working

This role is based in Milton Keynes and our current expectation is at least 2 days in an office every week.

1st Stage - Technical Interview - this will a 30min technical interview with one of the team
2nd Stage - A one-hour formal interview where we will ask both technical and competency-based questions. This can be done virtually or face to face depending on your situation.

- Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus
