We have an exciting opportunity for two Network Engineers to join the Infrastructure team within Unified Communications department at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The Infrastructure team has a broad role in enabling communication across the hospitals. This includes telephony, mobile and unified communications services as well as infrastructure supporting IT services for these highly regarded hospitals.

The Network Engineer role is responsible for the day-to-day technical support and service delivery of all products and services supported by Unified Communications, including 10,000+ voice extensions, 100 cab rooms, a 1st/2nd line service desk capability, as well as the voice network upgrade and transition of core telephony platforms.

The role is based on site full time within Unified Communications and reports to the Service Desk Manager.

· To be responsible for day-to-day technical support of all products and services provided by Unified Communications

· To support the Service Desk Manager, in close cooperation with other colleagues, with the responsibility for successful implementation and ongoing management of Unified Communications applications and systems, as well as implementation of strategy and programmes of work.

· To take part in the duty engineer arrangements for the team, and to support the duty engineer and Service Desk Manager when required to do so, so that a consistent level of technical support is provided to the organisation.

· To be part of an out-of-hours on call rota, attending site to resolve faults and issues where required.

Contribute to the preparation of project plans, reports, quality improvement processes and development work to cost and time targets as agreed with the Service Desk Manager.

Introduction

Parliamentary Maintenance Services Team (PMST), consists of approximately 115 in-house staff and many contractors who maintain the Parliamentary estates (Commons & Lords) buildings, engineering systems and furnishings to ensure a fully functioning, safe working environment, equipped for the demands of the 21st century. And, what an estate it is. Consisting of buildings that range from the historic Palace of Westminster to the modern Portcullis House, it's located within a UNESCO World Heritage site and spans four conservation areas.

PMST have direct interface with the other departments supporting the functions of both Houses, i.e. Security; Digital; Safety; Catering; Service Delivery and Strategic Estates (who provide project management to multi-million pound refurbishment and build projects).

The Central Maintenance Office (CMO) are responsible for managing all pre-planned maintenance (PPM) activities and associated repairs across the estate to ensure legal compliance and operational readiness of our buildings and equipment ranging from steam boilers to state-of-the-art fire alarm and security systems etc.

The Role

This role is a fantastic opportunity to join the PMST team as a Maintenance Technical Officer (Building Fabric).

You will manage areas of planned maintenance and compliance related to building fabric maintenance including estate drainage, fire door inspections, gates and barriers, flag poles etc.

You will ensure programmes of planned maintenance work are delivered as required, including arranging any statutory inspections and also arranging any subsequently required remedial work.

As such you will directly manage and monitor service delivery provided by a range of PMST's contractor service partners.

Some of the responsibilities for this role include:

• Manage allocated PPM & associated reactive repair requests: using the CAFM system to ensure PMST strives to achieve the required Service Level.
• Identify appropriate technical solutions and engage contractors or internal resources to ensure the most cost-effective solution for allocated work requests.
• Carry out condition appraisal surveys and arrange subsequent repairs or incorporation into the medium or long-term works and Planned maintenance programmes.
• Liaise with a range of stakeholders, to ensure that work activities are carried out without undue disruption to the Business of the House.

Skills and Experience

Essential Experience

• Detailed knowledge of the current requirements and best practise for building fabric related maintenance works including specific knowledge of the requirements for fire door testing and inspection.
• Level 3 qualification in a building fabric related maintenance area
• Recent relevant experience of managing building fabric related planned maintenance for a suitably comparable organisation.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

• Experience of successfully managing a wide variety of planned maintenance activities and monitoring service delivery/outcomes.
• Understanding and experience of statutory compliance, safety hazards, and site/work-based inspections within a building services function and/or construction environment.
• Excellent communication skills and a strong sense of initiative. The post holder must be able to operate and succeed within a complex environment where prioritisation will be essential.
• Upon completion of the probationary period the postholder will be expected to competently use and interrogate the CAFM and BMS Systems.

Main duties

• Working with and supporting the team.

• To be able to accurately diagnose software and hardware faults and to be able to resolve a large proportion of client problems via remote networking and client site visits.

• To provide a high standard of customer care to clients, ensuring their problems are dealt with efficiently, maintaining contact and keeping clients informed of progress.

• To provide 1st and 2nd line helpdesk support to customers for hardware, software, audio-visual, and telephone equipment.

• In addition, they may be called upon to do other duties as demand occurs.

• To work towards and complete Microsoft Certifications for IT Professionals

• To audit new customers IT and provide reports back to customers, including meeting with customers to discuss the audit and findings / recommendations.

• To be aware of and abide by health and safety procedures and associated polices.

• To proactively implement policies and procedures.

• To maintain satisfactory standards of safety and security in relation to customers.

What You'll Do

As a crucial member of our maintenance team, you'll work alongside our skilled Maintenance Supervisor and Fitters to ensure our cranes are in prime condition at all times. Your key responsibilities will include:

- Assisting with servicing, repairs, and breakdown maintenance of cranes to uphold our high standards of safety and performance

- Maintaining accurate service records and providing technical advice to minimize downtime

- Collaborating with operations to schedule repairs and procure necessary materials

- Continuously seeking ways to improve processes and efficiency within the role

What We're Looking For

Education, Experience, and Skills:

- Previous experience maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing faults with heavy machinery

- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues

- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to maintenance tasks
