Performs a variety of journeyman level electrician duties for industrial facilities and equipment associated with dams, hydroelectric power plants, and related facilities.
- Performs skilled journeyman electrician work involving troubleshooting, assembling, maintaining, installing, adjusting, and repairing heavy industrial electrical equipment, including power, distribution, and instrument transformers, generators, switchboards, circuit breakers, HY AC systems, communication systems, and elevators.
- Performs hydroelectric power plant operations including starting, stopping, switching, hazardous energy control, and load/voltage control.
- Operates and uses a variety of equipment, tools, and machinery such as, electrical analyzing equipment, conduit benders, pipe threaders, pneumatic tools, impact wrenches, forklifts, motorized man-lifts, a variety of cranes, and light trucks.
PHYSICAL EFFORT Exerts moderately heavy physical effort which includes lifting and carrying items weighing 50 pounds, with occasional lifting up to I 00 pounds. Climbing ladders and stairs, walking, standing, kneeling, crawling, or bending for long periods of time may be required in performing duties. Duties may also involve working from suspended scaffolding and motorized man-lifts at substantial heights and working in closed restricted quarters and confined spaces.
WORKING CONDITIONS The work is accomplished in and around dams, power plants, and related facilities with exposure to high levels of noise, moving parts, hazardous materials, and electrical hazards. Work is also performed outside under prevailing weather and terrain conditions. Some work assignments are performed in confined spaces, closed and restricted quarters, and at substantial heights.
