Signs such correspondence for the Veterans Service Center Manager.
• Receives and responds to congressional and White House inquiries concerning VA benefits for veterans and other claimants. Analyzes inquiries, researches issues involved, consults with other federal, state and local agencies as necessary and prepares written replies or furnishes replies by telephone or other medium to congressional or White House staff members.
• Serves as an Outreach Coordinator (such as Women's Veterans Coordinator, Minority Veterans Coordinator, Homeless Veterans Coordinator, Aging Veteran Coordinator, Ex-Prisoners of War Coordinator, or Military Services Coordinator). Develops a network relationship with the state and private veterans organizations to broaden the scope of outreach and increase the community awareness of the role VA plays in being a resource to that community.
• Speaks to individuals or groups or otherwise represents the agency on media programs involving matters of interest to veterans and their dependents. Serves as a resource for the veteran community by participating in events and programs, such as military Transition Assistance Program, Armed Forces Day booths, Veterans Organizations seminars, etc. Conducts seminars, conferences and other information dissemination activities.

Major Duties include but are not limited to:

• Providing policing services in a variety of jurisdictional environments, where each type of jurisdiction (Exclusive, Concurrent, and Proprietorial) has different enforcement rules and requires Police Officers to understand the complexities and legally apply the correct set of laws, regulations, and processes.
• Provides services routinely at all segments of VA facilities located over large geographical areas, some of which may be in different states, counties, municipalities, or townships.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:

The Baltimore Convention Center wishes to research and then produce thorough documentation surrounding its public art collection. This will include reviewing archival documentation, researching artists and their works, interviewing pertinent stakeholders, and producing documents that will be used to create content for the organization’s website and self-guided tours.

Additionally, as the Convention Center will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2029, the Intern will start to identify historic photos and documents from within the city and agency archives and propose a list of assets that should be digitized in preparation for a retrospective.

Interns at the Baltimore Convention Center are hired with a specific set of tasks or project in mind.  The goal is to create meaningful job experiences for the student while providing the agency tangible outcomes that leave lasting impact.  The position will work closely with all departments, as well as relevant entities to further the assigned work such as the Baltimore City Archives and the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts

The Intern is a part-time hourly position that will report to leadership within the Sales, Services, and Marketing Department.

Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek averaging 20-30 hours a week. The work of this position takes place in a predominantly seated work location but will require occasional walking, bending, and lifting items no more than 50lbs. Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Positions in this class that are assigned to the Baltimore City Police Department, work a rotating shift, to include evening, weekend and holidays. Work is performed in an office where working conditions are normal. Work requires minimal physical exertion.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

An Investigative Specialist I is responsible for performing administrative professional work assisting in investigations conducted and managed by the Baltimore Police Department. Members in this classification assist in conducting and reviewing administrative investigations and/or a variety of criminal investigations and prosecution activities. Work includes conducting investigative research; documenting areas of violation, collecting and preserving case evidence; analysis of case documentation including but not limited to: audio-taped statements, photographs, payroll records, daily activity sheets, criminal databases, intelligence reports, and police incident reports; recommending appropriate investigative course of action; conducting preliminary case interviews; performing weekly statistical analysis of all; drafting of all case correspondences upon completion of investigation; and related duties as required.

Employees in this class work a conventional workweek that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. The employees work in an office and on site of incidents where such conditions as seasonal weather extremes, hazardous waste, and hostile confrontations may be encountered.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher education, with focus on Criminal Justice or a related field.

                                                                    AND
EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma/GED plus two (2) years of experience working as an investigator in any function, including but not limited to; criminal, civil, environmental, housing, code violations, or performing administrative audits and inspections. Be at least 21 years of age.

                                                                     OR

EQUIVALENCIES: Each additional year of education at an accredited college or university with focus on Criminal Justice or a related field may substituted for six (6) months of the experience requirement.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATES: A valid Class C Noncommercial driver’s license or an equivalent out-of-state driver’s license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management is required.

• Ability to participate and successfully complete all mandated phases of entrance level training including classroom, field and skills training.
• Ability to operate motor vehicles safely and effectively and to enter and exit such vehicles frequently.
