Your new role

We are now looking for a site-based QS to work on a new build £ 10 million education project in Dorset on site in the next few weeks until late 2025

The role is initially site based (with flexible working) dealing with the initial cost plan though to subcontract appraisal and early-stage procurement of subcontract packages in this first phase of the £ 10 million new build education project in Dorset.

Reporting to the MQS for the project and working with the project team you will be well versed in both taking jobs from the early stages through to on site and also live commercial management of subcontractors at delivery stage.

• Relevant project management qualification, e.g. PRINCE2 or equivalent
• Detailed knowledge in area of service or specialism including a general, broader understanding of the public sector and the issues that it faces
• Detailed knowledge of education policy, legislation, statutory guidance and related processes relating to alternative provision, school attendance, Children Missing Education, Elective Home Education and exclusions.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of the issues and barriers to education affecting children.
• Understanding of school data and how the likes of attendance and exclusion can impact on pupil attainment and outcomes.

We are looking for a Project Manager to join our busy team!

In this role you will be responsible for the successful project delivery of a range of connections.

Projects will include small domestic connections through to large commercial connections, and diversions up to 11kV.

Other roles & responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

- Managing a portfolio of connections projects to time, cost and customer satisfaction.

- Issuing each contract package to our Framework Partner ensuring compliance, cost management, project tracking and accuracy of information to efficiently deliver connections projects.

- Driving profitability and opportunity through excellent customer service, identifying areas of improvement to work collaboratively with the delivery partners and wider business.

- Ensuring the inspection of works and supporting information is available and given to all parties within the connections delivery process and that all required contracts are managed, completed correctly and stored in line with SSEN processes.

- Providing support to both our customers and delivery partners to ensure the projects proceed efficiently.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Awareness and understanding of SSE connections methodology and licensing conditions that relate to connections activities and our regulatory framework including knowledge of Statutory, Regulatory and License requirements.

- Understanding of the operation, and management, of an NEC3 contract and the various interactions with the delivery partners.

- Project management skills; managing multiple workloads, finance and project planning and a Prince 2 practitioner - or working towards similar qualification.

- Sound business and technical knowledge of electricity distribution or similar market sector.

- Excellent planning, organizational and problem-solving skills.

Regular travel is required and as a result we can only accept applications from candidates that hold a current driving licence.

A position has become available at YMCA Bournemouth and Poole that will cover all existing, and future, facilities and services under our Business and Leisure Operations.

A Business Operations and Development Manager will work closely with the YMCAB Senior Operations Officer responsible for Business Development and Leisure, to ensure a strategic and operationally safe delivery, with a firm commitment to continuous professional development of our portfolio. The successful individual with be commercially minded/experienced, with an eye for detail and with exceptional customer and member standards covering facility and service.

Operationally, a strong lead on all Health and Safety matters will be required. Development, an innovative and enthusiastic individual required.



Salary (full-time role) £35,000.00 per annum.
