Transport Planner
Menzies Distribution Solutions are looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join our team at our Central Planning Centre in Coalville. The planning team organises the delivery and collection of product on behalf of Menzies Distribution Solutions Limited and its customers across multiple sites, covering various different contracts.
*** Please note the successful applicant will have experience specifically in a previous Planning Role. We plan solely Class 1 vehicles and are a busy general haulage 3PL company***

• Working Week: 4 On/4 Off Nights
• Salary: £40,600.00k Per Annum
• 19:00 - 07:00
• 20 Days Holiday Allowance

Important Information
• We plan Day 1 for Day 2, up to Day 1 for Day 5
• Work is continuously updated throughout the day up until late afternoon for next day deliveries so the plan often needs amending up until the last minute
• The sectors our customers work in are Beverage can, pkg, Palletts, Ambient Food etc.

Transport Planner Duties
• Based in Bardon Planning centre lone working but remotely support by our Wakefield site and night manager and night team. Throughout the shift teams link to Wakefield and lone worker devices in to support safeguarding and health and safety
• Dealing with issues that occur on shift and dynamically planning and replanning
• Ability to understand and use multiple TMS systems (Such as?)
• Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
• The night team deal with the full night plan for the business with support from the onsite teams
• You will need to be both, Proactive and Reactive as you will be dealing with the night plan and any issues that occur. Having the capability to resolve them but also proactively managing the subsequent impact that the night shift will have on the following day shift and be able to minimise impact
• Liaising with drivers and control of drivers throughout the shift.
• Be able to understand and influence multiple plans and understanding of our network
• Compile thorough hand overs during the shift – A fully comprehensive, thorough hand over will need to be compiled through each shift and handed over at the end.
• Resolving admin issues and system compliance
• You will need the ability to work out the subcontract rates and charges. Rating and working out subcontract rates and charges
Transport Planner Requirements
• A Can-Do, Positive attitude with the ability and initiative to constantly revisit the transport plan and ensure the plan is as efficient and achievable as possible whilst still maintaining targeted vehicle earnings and customer service
• Previous experience in a Transport Planning Role (Mandatory)
• Experience of working in a busy Transport office
• Knowledge of Drivers Hours, Tachograph and WTD legislation
• Good standard of education and IT literate
• Knowledge of Health & Safety
• Commercial understanding
• Knowledge of transport systems such as ESP, GTS, Transporeon and Blujay
