Hours of Work:

40 Hours per week working on a rotational shift.
Monday to Friday 06.45am to 3.15pm and 3.00pm to 11.30pm

The role:

Working in a team, you will be required to set up the machinery before each production run. This will involve getting materials ready to be processed, ensuring they are correctly placed, and all other operating procedures are followed.
This will involve manual handling and measuring and handling chemicals.

Machine operating and minding, stopping the machines to problem solve and fix any issues during production.
Cleaning down the machinery after each production run.

Acorn's manufacturing client in St Austell, specialising in the production of medical and reusable plastic products, is currently looking for Production Operatives to join on a temporary-to-permanent contract. Working on an attractive continental shift-pattern, you'll receive a great work-life balance!

The company makes orders from 500 parts to bigger orders of 2 million parts, continuously investing in their experienced team, superior management, and latest equipment, to be at the forefront of the industry offering.

After training, your main responsibilities will be:

• Packing work to customer specifications including quality checks e.g., ensuring customer colour standards are met through colour comparison, some measuring and recording of products
• Use of track and trace scanning system to accurately record traceability of orders
• Your assigned machines where you will be checking products, reporting issues, and answering basic alarm requests e.g., trapped component removals
• Some basic paperwork for recording full traceability of products including batch packs
• To keep the area clean and tidy and to meet the deadlines

Role requirements:

• Numeracy and literacy skills are essential
• You can't be colour blind for this role, as it requires putting together blue and red components that are critical for the construction of medical products (if you're not sure, the site provides a test on the interview day)
• Must be punctual and reliable - full training is offered, production experience desirable but not necessary with hard-working attitude
• Positive attitude to actively participate in the shift team you are part of, improving communication and providing efficient handovers

What will your role involve?

*Effectively and efficiently set / operate machines using the Planning Sheets, tooling, gauges and material provided

*Maintain a good volume of work through the machine using the guidelines of times given on the Planning Sheets or a time given as a result of a time request

*Maintain safe working practices at all times using all guards supplied with the machine and other safety equipment supplied by the Company. Operate within Company laid down procedures

*Work as a team member, co-operating with the other personnel in the Machine Shop and within the plant as a whole

*Maintain a good level of attendance and punctuality

*Maintain a good level of communication with Supervision and all other employees

*Undertake all reasonable requests by Supervision to assist production in the Machine Shop as and when required

You'll be working 8-hour rotating shifts, Monday - Friday, 06:00 - 14:00 / 14:00 - 22:00, as well as the night shift 22:00 - 06:00

What are we looking for?
