Frontline Recruitment Weymouth are seeking a Production Supervisor to join our client in Dorchester.
As supervisor you will be responsible for areas of production or stores and leading the teams within them.
The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills (with Math’s and English to secondary education level) and be able to maintain constructive relationships with team members and other departments by application of the company’s core values. Furthermore, they must be methodical with good attention to detail and be able to analyses and use data to identify the root cause of problems.
To ensure the area is kept to a high standard and the teams working within it are working correctly to the company’s standard operating procedures (SOP’s). Ensuring the safe production, storage, receipt and despatch of product within internal and external specifications and within critical control points (CCP’s). Responsible for delivering and improving area KPI’s and reporting to other departments. To help drive continuous improvements through team meetings and one to one communication within the teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Able to lead teams within specific areas to ensure production targets are met and KPI’s are recorded and reported accurately to areas within the business that need feedback or data.
- Using KPI information to drive continuous improvements in the area of responsibility to help teams work with better efficiency allowing them to reach the desired targets and help with business growth
- Continuously monitoring the area of responsibility to ensure it is safe for the personnel and for the product being produced, stored or transported. Any issues need to be reported in a timely manner to enable root causes to be identified and resolved.
- Manage team numbers to ensure correct levels of personnel are applied to each line or area. Manage leave requests and the requirement of holiday cover and manage absence using HR policies.
- Responsible for the H&S of the team including near-miss reporting and safety culture
- Working with Quality team making sure line samples are being taken, CCP’s are carried out correctly and documented consistently and report back to teams on any QA communication with reference to failed product, customer complaints or audit requirements.
- Ensure all personnel receive the correct training and ensure further training is organized for those that require it. Any new staff or agency will require extra focus to ensure their application/introduction to the team is done correctly and the training requirements are planned in, carried out in a timely manner and recorded.


Training/Qualifications:
Essential:
4 GCSE’s (minimum of grade 4 or higher including Math’s & English Literature, and English Language)
Knowledge and experience gained in operating within a food manufacturing environment.
People Management Training
Awareness of LEAN principles
Level 3 Food Hygiene

Desirable:
Advanced Management / Leadership training
Experience of leading teams in a food manufacturing environment

Skills/Aptitude:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills using English business language
Maintains constructive relationships with team members and other departments by application of the Core Values

Remuneration & Benefits
Rate of pay - £13.90 per hour (current rate of pay as of today).
Contractual Hours – 42.5hrs per week (Monday to Friday) from January to June and 45hrs per week (Monday to Friday) from July to December.
Holiday entitlement – 29 days per annum (including Public & Bank Holidays in England & Wales) rising to 30 days after 5 years continuous service as of 1st April and 31 days after 10 years continuous service as of 1st April.
Pension – 5% Employee/5% Employer contribution
Life Assurance – 2 x annual salary (after completion of 3 months service)
Bike to Work Scheme – Capped

Frontline Recruitment Weymouth are looking for 2 x Production Line Leaders for our client in Dorchester in their Packing Department.

You will be responsible for a specific line or area and management of the teams to maintain normal production running conditions using logical reasoning and decision making to operate and adjust production equipment as per the company’s standard operating procedures (SOP’s), to achieve product that is within internal and external specifications and within critical control points (CCP’s).

Key Responsibilities:

1. Able to undertake and support any area of production as required using knowledge and skills of operating processes, equipment, and quality systems.

2. Support team members to improve job knowledge and pass on information between shifts and departments as required and raise performance issues with team members to the Supervisor.

3. Taking samples from the process and using equipment and/or systems to monitor and record results, on relevant systems to meet the company’s Audit Compliance and Manufacturing Monitoring Systems

4. Monitor and plan production equipment availability to maintain normal running conditions. Adjusting settings to meet specifications. If further support is required, refer technical issues to Technical Operative and/or Supervisor for resolution.

5. Fully accountable for KPI delivery and improvements in quality and performance, and service levels

6. Work within all company policies and procedures, including Health & Safety and Food Safety Standards and ensuring the team as a whole are also following the set standards. Raising quality and safety near-miss incidents.

7. Identifying and suggesting ideas for continuous improvement and participating in problem solving and improvement activities

8. To carry out any other work or task determined to be within your level of competence, to meet the needs of the business.

9. Working within all company policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Food Safety, Authenticity, Legality and Quality Standards.

The successful applicants will have the following:

Essential

· 4 GCSEs at Grade 4/5 of which English Language, English Literature and Mathematics are required.

· Competent in the use of computers.

· Knowledge and experience gained in operating within a food manufacturing environment.

· Forklift Certificate (for relevant areas).

· Food Hygiene – Level 2 and 3.

· Manual Handling.

Desirable

· People Management Training.

· Able to work in a role that has physical demands.

· Competent in using Microsoft software packages.

· Awareness of LEAN principles.

Skills:
