Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4pm & Friday 7.30am – 12.30pm

A global manufacturer in Bournemouth who design & manufacture a catalogue of Electro-Mechanical applications worldwide are looking to recruit a Production Engineering Manager to lead the Production Engineering team.

As the Production Engineering Manager, you will be leading a team of 8 to undertake new product development / introduction (NPD / NPI), design for manufacture and responsible for all current product lines.

Your role will see you leading and developing the team, optimising processes, providing production support, and new product introduction.

Some of your duties will include:

• Lead with a passion for operational excellence and instil this within the culture of the team.
• Be skilled in team management, empowering others and delegating.
• Demonstrate commitment to Continuous Professional Development and maximising team performance
• Support the timely and consistent delivery of all production demand.
• Respond to stoppages and quality issues.
• Plan, organise and manage resources and parts, to maintain all equipment maintenance schedules required to operate effectively to meet schedule requirements and minimise downtime.
• Utilise lean manufacturing principles to streamline production processes, eliminate waste, and improve overall efficiency.
• Implement changes to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Working with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth transition of new products from design to production.
• Contribute to the design process ensuring design for manufacture is embedded throughout.
• Develop manufacturing plans, process documentation, and training materials for NPI projects.
• Lead the transfer of product lines to alternative manufacturing facilities.
• Working across the teams to ensure transfers are delivered on-time, within budget and with risks identified and appropriately mitigated.

We also ask that you have the following key capabilities / knowledge:

• Production Engineering experience within an Electro-Mechanical industry
• Strong people management experience
• Confident, energetic with the ability to drive the business forward
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with various internal departments, customers, 3rd party manufacturers to achieve success
• Good IT skills with experience of Microsoft packages
• LEAN manufacturing experience
• Any formal Engineering or Technical qualifications would be beneficial.

Frontline Recruitment Weymouth are looking for 2 x Production Line Leaders for our client in Dorchester in their Packing Department.

You will be responsible for a specific line or area and management of the teams to maintain normal production running conditions using logical reasoning and decision making to operate and adjust production equipment as per the company’s standard operating procedures (SOP’s), to achieve product that is within internal and external specifications and within critical control points (CCP’s).

Key Responsibilities:

1. Able to undertake and support any area of production as required using knowledge and skills of operating processes, equipment, and quality systems.

2. Support team members to improve job knowledge and pass on information between shifts and departments as required and raise performance issues with team members to the Supervisor.

3. Taking samples from the process and using equipment and/or systems to monitor and record results, on relevant systems to meet the company’s Audit Compliance and Manufacturing Monitoring Systems

4. Monitor and plan production equipment availability to maintain normal running conditions. Adjusting settings to meet specifications. If further support is required, refer technical issues to Technical Operative and/or Supervisor for resolution.

5. Fully accountable for KPI delivery and improvements in quality and performance, and service levels

6. Work within all company policies and procedures, including Health & Safety and Food Safety Standards and ensuring the team as a whole are also following the set standards. Raising quality and safety near-miss incidents.

7. Identifying and suggesting ideas for continuous improvement and participating in problem solving and improvement activities

8. To carry out any other work or task determined to be within your level of competence, to meet the needs of the business.

9. Working within all company policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Food Safety, Authenticity, Legality and Quality Standards.

The successful applicants will have the following:

Essential

· 4 GCSEs at Grade 4/5 of which English Language, English Literature and Mathematics are required.

· Competent in the use of computers.

· Knowledge and experience gained in operating within a food manufacturing environment.

· Forklift Certificate (for relevant areas).

· Food Hygiene – Level 2 and 3.

· Manual Handling.

Desirable

· People Management Training.

· Able to work in a role that has physical demands.

· Competent in using Microsoft software packages.

· Awareness of LEAN principles.

Skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, maintains constructive relationships with team members across departments, proficient in the use of all working processes and equipment for the area /department, methodical and good attention to detail, analyses and resolves issues, knowing when to refer to a senior for advice, make decisions using available resources and sound judgement, calm, analytical, measured approach with good team and computer skills.

Contractual Hours – 42.5hrs per week (Monday to Friday) from January to June 2024 and 45hrs per week (Monday to Friday) from July to December 2024.

We are currently partnering with a local manufacturer based in the Dorset area. Our client is looking for an experienced Cell Leader Manufacturing to join their fast-paced people orientated business.

The Cell Leader Manufacturing is responsible for the operation of a section within the Manufacturing function, supporting the day-to-day management of the manufacturing area, overseeing a team of technicians, and ensuring an efficient operation in achieving business targets.
This is a role for a quality focused individual with good attention to detail and the ability to work to tight delivery schedules.

Key Responsibilities as Cell Leader Manufacturing

- Provide Leadership and line management to the team, co-ordinating their workloads and providing support to ensure that the team delivers.
- Development of the team by focusing on individual performance and support requirements to achieve high standards, whilst fostering a culture of work safely.
- Supervising and motivating the Production team and leading lean production practices
- Ensuring that the production is efficient and cost effective by assessing total production capacity.

Key experience as Cell Leader Manufacturing

- A good awareness of Health and Safety in an industrial environment is also required.
- Awareness of Manufacturing processes within an engineering environement
- 1 years’ experience of direct first line operational teams in a fast-paced environment
- Degree qualification or relevant recent experience in a similar role within an engineering or manufacturing discipline
