You will be specifically responsible for assisting the Laundry Production Manager in the operational delivery of linen production for patient’s, visitors and staff at NUH.

Under the direction of the Laundry Production Manager, the Shift Manager is specifically responsible for the overall running, planning/administering and delivering a full service from the on-site laundry at City and a related linen service operation across the Trust and to external contracts as appropriate.

The Shift Manager will also be required to assist in the development and administration of policies and procedures relating to receiving, processing and delivery of laundry items in accordance with HTM 01-04 and other relevant British standards including BSEN 14065.

The main duties of the role cover day to day management of the laundry operatives and a team of team leaders.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Pharmacist to join the Pharmacy Production team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) . You will be specifically responsible for assisting the Laundry Production Manager in the operational delivery of linen production for patient’s, visitors and staff at NUH.

Under the direction of the Laundry Production Manager, the Shift Manager is specifically responsible for the overall running, planning/administering and delivering a full service from the on-site laundry at City and a related linen service operation across the Trust and to external contracts as appropriate.

The Shift Manager will also be required to assist in the development and administration of policies and procedures relating to receiving, processing and delivery of laundry items in accordance with HTM 01-04 and other relevant British standards including BSEN 14065.

The main duties of the role cover day to day management of the laundry operatives and a team of team leaders.

The post holder will be expected to lead, motivate and develop the team.

Maintaining quality standards and adequate supplies of linen is of paramount importance; the post holder will also be expected to ensure all systems and processes relating to BSEN 14065 are adhered to at all times.

Financial and physical resources management will play a key part as will human resources and staff engagement.

The Trust is only one of a handful of NHS Trusts who have their own in house laundry, we have the ability to be self-sufficient with the supply of linen to our patients and not just through a managed service. the team are committed to high quality linen and fast turnaround times. we have invested significantly in some of the machinery and have a plan to replace more over the next few years, this will place the laundry in a position of potentially operating on a commercial level for other smaller NHS organisations and be quality driven as opposed to profit driven.

Staff Management

General staff management, including maintenance of high standards of performance and conduct in line with Trust procedures.

To be responsible for the direct management control and organisation of staff and activities involved in the delivery of patients catering service.

To liaise with staff at ward level concerning all aspects of the laundry production service and to maintain a regular ward visitation programme to measure objectively the service required.

To monitor all required laundry audits

Adhere to and enforce Trust Policies

To ensure the security of the premises, materials, provisions and equipment.

To ensure the Laundry Policy and Safety Management Systems are adhered to and audit checks are actioned and replied to within a reasonable time.

To liaise with the Laundry Production Manager in maintaining the Laundry’s RABC Procedures.

To constantly seek new ways to improve the laundry’s production efficiency and cost effectiveness.

Work closely with the drivers to ensure smooth delivery and collections of clean and dirty linen

To establish a process of efficient production of linen to ensure the Trust receives good quality linen in quantities that meet the needs of the patients

Leadership

To ensure all staff are suitably trained and motivated in line with the Trust’s Human Resources Policies to deliver high standards of service.

To enhance the performance and capabilities of staff through appraisal, personal development, objective setting and handle all disciplinary and grievance matters with respect to the laundry working in accordance with the Trust’s Policies.

To agree, plan and ensure annual training plans are met and evaluated for staff.

Develop a positive inclusive relationship with Trade Unions and staff representatives.

Deputise for the Laundry Production Manger as appropriate.

To provide visible leadership to team leaders and staff within the area and promote team work and co-operation amongst managers within their departments.

Comply with the role within the 14065 allocated to this post, to ensure the monitoring of the requirements are undertaken and documented as described in the standard.
