• Receives supplies and material into the VA Health Care System and supported catchment area. Unpacks/uncrates supplies from shipping cartons; properly stores supplies and material in main/primary inventory areas. Stores items in accordance with established guidelines, utilizing a computerized inventory system, to ensure sterility and integrity of the supplies and material and the data integrity of the inventory management system. Through periodic inventory and discussion with ward and clinical personnel, maintains stock levels, returns reusable supplies to the distribution area, and informs clinic and ward personnel on new or changed items and supplies, current medical supply resources, and shelf life.

Supervisory Medical Supply Technician duties includes but are not limited to the following:

• Responsible for assisting the Chief, Sterile Processing Services (SPS), in oversight of all operational and administrative activities of the service.
• Responsible for the quality management system activities within Sterile Processing Services, to include training, competency assessment, development, and enforcement of standard operating procedures.
• Through subordinate supervisors provides technical and direct supervision to over 24 GS3/4 through GS8 Medical Supply Technicians.
• Manages, directs, and adapts work to accomplish program goals and objectives, and to meet new and changing program requirements.
• Serves as liaison between SPS and other departments.
• Assists Chief, SPS, in managing the SPS Equipment Inventory Listing (EIL) for equipment assigned to SPS such as sterilizers, washer/disinfector, ultrasonic, sealers through the nonexpendable property program for the assigned facility/system and requests replacement of all equipment under their purview as needed.

• Issues, adapts, implements, and maintains local SPS policies and procedures as applicable to specific facility/system programs.

Employee Travel Program Coordinator (60%)
The Chief Financial Manager (CFM) is administratively responsible for the FHCC's employee travel program. As the Employee Travel Program Coordinator, the employee is technically responsible for employee travel activity at the FHCC. Primary employee travel duties include assisting employees in preparing electronic Travel Plans and performing first level review of Travel Plans. Additional duties.

Incumbent serves as the local coordinator of the Travel Program. The coordinator has an influential part in the Travel program and communicates with management, employee travelers and fellow employees. Incumbent coordinates all training efforts to ensure a successful program. The incumbent analyzes the program, identifies ways to improve (be more efficient) or provide better service. In coordination with Budget Supervisor sets goals and objectives, implements new ideas and follows up on the process.

Travel Program Oversight (15%)
The nature of the incumbent's duties involve, but are not limited to, Travel fund control point management and maintenance; on-line input to the Travel Package and systems related to the Travel Management Center (TMC). Incumbent provides management with reports, analyses and evaluations on a quantitative or qualitative basis, the effectiveness of programs or operations in meeting established goals and objectives of the Budget Supervisor, CFM, and/or Resource Directorate of the FHCC. Travel Management Center (TFM) Program Coordinator (25%)
Incumbent is the facility level liaison between the FHCC and the TMC program. Responsible for monitoring the electronica billings made from the TMC to the Austin Finance Center through Financial Management System (FMS). The incumbent reviews the charge on the employee itineraries to assure accuracy of the appropriate individual credit card accounts. Monthly US Bank reports are consistently reviewed and follow up initiated for delinquent accounts or misuse of the US Bank card. Ensures TM rejects are reviewed and corrected timely. Incumbent systemizes the overall operation of the travel card program. provides management with reports, analyses and evaluation, on a quantitative or qualitative basis, the effectiveness of program or operations in meeting established goals and objectives of the travel program. Manages both the US Bank, and Citi Direct Bank corporate and individual employee accounts. Reviews and audits transactions are in compliance with established rules and regulations.

Incumbent works with minimum supervision and is familiar with generally accepted accounting principles as pertains to travel and all other ancillary duties described below. A general description of what is accomplished:

• Receives, analyzes, and classifies all commitment and obligation documents. Reviews documents for validity of budget data, expenditure limitation, accounting data', and for proper authorization and compliance with existing manuals, regulations, and station policies.

Evaluates pupil: records size, shape, symmetry, reaction to light & accommodation & any abnormalities, including relative afferent pupillary defect
Performs basic refractometry uses auto refraction or habitual glass prescription in phoropter
Instills eye medications: i.e., drop or ointments, including anesthetic, dye, dilation, cycloplegic, or antibiotics
Measures intraocular eye pressure using techniques including Goldman applanation tonometry
Performs pachymetry to determine corneal thickness & manual keratometry or automated topography to detinning corneal curvature
Performs intra-ocular lens calculations using IOL Master
Performs automated visual field testing using various perimetry machines
Performs external & fundus photography
Performs Optical Coherence Tomography, of anterior segment, retina & optic nerve
Performs urgent ocular patient screening/triages
Educates patients & legal authorized representatives in eye care, including preoperative & postoperative instructions
Educates/trains medical students, residents & fellows
Ensures proper cleaning & disinfection; calibration, maintenance, backup, annual inventory & orders: instruments, supplies & equipment; obtains quotes as needed & reports needed repairs to biomedical engineering

Pharmacy Technician duties include, but are limited to the following:

• Reads and interprets prescriptions from the veteran electronic health record systems (EHRS) or in written format.
• Reviews prescription orders for technical accuracy.
• Prepares medications and ensures the orderable item matches the item being dispensed regarding drug, strength, quantity, or appropriate supply item.
• Dispenses medications following all regulations, policies, and procedures for safe medication distribution.
• Uses Automatic Dispensing machines (ADM) to batch and label medications. Ensure ScriptTalk labels are batched if needed. Understands when to use other prescription labels with computer outages.
• Maintains highly sophisticated pharmacy equipment. This includes cleaning procedures and maintenance of ADM's and other counting machines. Troubleshoots equipment and databases when needed.
• Assists with automated or manual inventory processes that include but are not limited to inventory counts, medication ordering, stocking, checking for outdates, pulling outdates, pulling recalled medications, inspections or any other activity related to the supply of VA medications.
• Accurately interprets EHRM patient medication profiles. Can confirm prescription information in the Pharmacy computer packages. Able to execute refills or other technician duties within the pharmacy software.
• Accurately or updates patient information in the many pharmacy software packages such as ADM's and EHRM.
• Accurately enters notes into the electronic health record using pharmacy templates or blank forms.
• Comprehends and participates in procurement activities, inventory management, narcotic dispensing, secure messaging, overnight mail, partial fills, window dispensing, administrative reports, prescription review, and incident reports as delegated by supervisor.
• Prioritizes workload to complete assignments on time.
• Maintains a safe orderly and clean working environment.
• Ensures all look alike, sound alike, high alert, refrigerated medications are stored properly according to manufactures recommendations and National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) requirement.
• Maintains adaptability and flexibility for various emerging roles and responsibilities in the medication distribution system including new equipment, assignments, and changes in pharmacy workflow.

Major duties include but are not limited to:

• Prepares funding documents such as 2237's and 1358's, initiates Purchase Card obligations and determines the appropriate Fund Control Point (FCP) and coding in terms of Budgeting Object Code (BOC) and Cost Center (CC)
• Ensures all funding documents are correct and contain all pertinent information
• Participates in the development of the annual budget
• Develops comparative annual data between specified accounts over different time periods, evaluating and identifying significant changes in account balances and the actions which caused the changes
• Processes purchase order requests, service contract invoices, utility invoices and similar documents and reviews each in accordance with applicable procurement regulations and directives for specific details of information such as clarity and sufficiency of item description, definition of requirement or specifications, purchase authorization, quantity and adequate delivery or performance time
• Analyzes purchase order requests for accuracy of data, unit prices and totals, validity and budget and expenditure limitations certifying fund availability to cover all obligations before preparing the transactions
• Communicates with other services and Facilities Management shops and service units to verify contract billings against work accomplished and conduct follow-up on delayed orders
• Prepares and submits monthly estimated cost obligations for fuel, utilities, vehicle rentals, and maintenance contracts and adjusts these accounts upon receipt of actual billing
• Prepares and compiles cost and other data from several sources for the energy report, supply report, paid housing report, and various cost transfers
• Reconciles computer printout sheets for each cost-accounting category with current data, locates discrepancies, determines source or sources of error and takes necessary remedial action
