The Opportunity
Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader in our No.5 Blast Furnace team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
In this specialised leadership role, you will lead a multi-skilled team focusing on the delivery of Mechanical Maintenance for our No.5 Blast Furnace (On Furnace Section) which is made up of the following areas – Furnace Top, Furnace Proper, Cast House Floor equipment, and Building Services in the surrounding area. In order to ensure operational productivity and asset management targets are achieved, you’ll provide technical support through the investigation of equipment issues. You’ll manage the team’s success through their performance and productivity to ensure our business plan objectives and targets are continually met – including overseeing external maintenance contractors.
What Will You Do?
Reporting to the Asset Manager, you will provide leadership to the On-Furnace mechanical maintenance team, ensuring equipment is maintained to maximise uptime performance and improve plant condition in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. You will lead and mentor a high performing team in a dynamic and exciting manufacturing environment. In doing so, you will:
- manage team members in the areas of performance, timekeeping, leave, training and personal development
- management of plant maintenance activities, including strategy development and optimisations, as well as the planning, organising, execution and review of maintenance.
- manage small-medium industrial capital projects with the assistance of your team, while having input on larger scale capital projects
- ensure safety standards are adhered to, making suitable changes when risks and opportunities are identified
- manage maintenance costs
- supervise maintenance activities and strive for business improvements and manufacturing excellence
- maintain a culture of continuous improvement to eliminate waste and improve team performance
