SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to provide appropriate, specialized developmental care and instruction for children in the Child Development Center (CDC). In addition, performs basic oversight and supervision for a designated classroom for ages 6 months through 5 years. The incumbent may be designated as the supervisor on duty, as needed, whenever the Child Development Center (CDC) Director is not physically in the facility.

DUTIES:

1. Designs, implements, and reviews activity plans.
2. Observes and evaluates each child's health and development and reports on and maintains records of observations.
3. Prepares and implements specialized programs for children with special needs, i.e., children with disciplinary problems, learning disabilities, or gifted children.

- A relevant trade qualification, ideally in a mechanical or electrical related discipline (minimum requirement equivalent to NVQ level 3).

- Experience of managing and organising Health & Safety for a workforce, and an awareness of current statutory requirements relating to building fabric and services.
- A pragmatic, independent thinker who has a problem-solving approach to work, with the ability to think outside the box and look for deliverable, effective solutions to problems as they arise, which may require negotiation or diplomatic conversations to overcome competing needs.
- Demonstrable customer service skills, particularly in a similar environment, and the understanding of what is required from a customer facing team
- Knowledge and experience of the supervision of appointed specialist/framework contractors and use of a dedicated software package for delivery of hard/soft FM
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with individuals from all levels of the Campus and if necessary, diplomatically navigate the competing needs of the stakeholder versus the wider organisation.

We seek an experienced Electrical Technician based at our water production sites in East Thames Valley (Newbury or Reading).
The overall responsibility of this role is to ensure that all equipment at our water production sites is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair electrical equipment.

Follow robust planned maintenance as well as getting involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process. As well as provide technical advice, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.

- Base Location – either at Speen WTW in Newbury (RG14 1RT) or Fobney WTW Reading. (RG2 0SF)
- 38 hours per week Monday-Friday.07:30 -15:30 plus the inclusion onto a standby rota for which you will receive additional payment.
- All PPE, Tools plus the provision of a Van when on duty and call.

What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician

- Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
- This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
- You will be expected to provide technical advice, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
- Examples of equipment that you will be working on will be motors, gearboxes, screw /chain conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems such as VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, chemical handling and dosing equipment.
- Participate in a stand-by rota following the relevant training.
- Complete License to operate. (Operate sites and learn the water treatment processes).

What you should bring to the role

- 18th Edition electrical City and Guilds certification is crucial.
- Ideally an apprenticeship with significant experience in electrical systems working in a ‘true multi-skilled capacity'.
- NVQ or City & Guilds level 3 in mechanical engineering would also be ideal but not essential.
- Experience in inspecting, maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, modifying or repairing Electrical plant equipment.
- Ideally experience maintaining large pumps, actuated valves, electronic control systems such as VSD and 3-phase electrical switchgear is essential.
- Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues relevant to the industry would benefit this role.
- The work will require physical fitness.
- You will need the ability to work in confined spaces and will require the completion of appropriate training for this.
- A full UK driving licence is essential.
