Our large Manufacturing client based in Bury is looking for an Electrician to join their team on a temp-to-perm basis.

We’re looking for a dedicated team member to join them in performing high-quality periodic electrical inspections, installations and repairs. As part of our team, you’ll work efficiently and safely. Basic knowledge of joinery is preferred but isn’t a must. You’ll have the opportunity to adapt to a diverse daily workload. With the ability to first and second fix electrical installations when required, daily periodic inspections to be carried out on our fleet of cabins and reactive maintenance of the existing fleet of 230v and hybrid cabins with low voltage & PV systems. Alongside the occasional requirement to carry out stud works, board and trim, daily workload will be varied and consist of learning in house software systems, off hiring of units. Testing and commissioning of old and new installations is a key requirement of this role.

Attention to detail is key as you complete unit preparation, and your comprehensive understanding of electrical Installation techniques and workspace maintenance will make a significant impact. Operatives will be required to have a real focus on safety, quality, efficiency & cost management. This is a fundamental role which offers direct support to the Refurb/Hire operations team & plays an integral part in delivering safety & quality on time.

Electrician will be responsible for:

• Support refurb/Fleet manager/Supervisors/team leaders with the delivery of good quality to customers.
• Work closely with workshop fitters, wash bay, yard personnel & transport to ensure daily operational expectations are met within a timely manner. Cross departmental working is a must. Operate within a team & offer support to the wider team if required, this may also include supporting other depots through periods of annual leave.
• Identify damage, capture chargeable costs using In-House IT systems & processes.
• All testing & works carried out to be completed in line with IET regulations.
• Diagnosing of electrical & electronic systems both AC/DC, inspect equipment, components, carry out potable appliance testing on both fixed/none fixed assets to support with depot compliance.
• Mentor/train colleagues.
• Support wider team & conduct on site work when required.
• Good cost control, manage consumable usage & parts.

Your new role
You will join a highly skilled Engineering Team working on a shift pattern of earlies and lates, 12-hour shifts, 6am to 6pm days or 10am - 10pm lates. You will ensure the plant is well maintained by carrying out regular PPM and reacting to any breakdowns, ensuring the plant is back online as soon as possible.
Working with site plan to manage any long-term repairs and ensure short-term fixes in place to meet production demands, ensuring all work complies with Electricity at work regulations to meet safety standards. There will be regular maintenance on boilers, pressure systems including steam, condensate and air, and you will ensure all works carried out are recorded in daily maintenance log and on the Assets Master System. Work permits are issued to any site contractors and any relevant isolation certificates, all spare parts are updated, and critical spares are available for any breakdowns.

What you'll need to succeed
Ideally, you will have completed a full apprenticeship in manufacturing engineering, or qualified to NVQ/C&G level 3 in maintenance engineering including electrical engineering.
Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred but not essential, a good understanding of health & safety, continuous improvement techniques and strong IT skills.
