The housekeeping aids who maintain VA facilities for Veterans and their families are essential to the patient care experience at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). A VA healthcare career as a housekeeping aide means working alongside other Veterans, who make up 85 percent of the housekeeping staff.

As a Housekeeping Aid, you will perform a full range of light and heavy cleaning duties and routine housekeeping duties. Veterans rely on the skills of these professionals to keep patient areas clean and safe by addressing spills quickly, discarding trash, installing light bulbs in halls and rooms, and vacuuming and polishing floors.

Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to provide appropriate, specialized developmental care, and instruction for children in the Youth Programs (YP). In addition, performs basic oversight and supervision for designated classrooms for ages 6 years through 18 years. The incumbent will assist with the Kindergarten program. Incumbent may be designated as building supervisor as needed, whenever the Youth Programs (YP) Director or assistant Youth Programs Director is not physically in the facility.

Duties:

• Designs, implements, and reviews activity plans.
• Observes and evaluates each youth's health and development and reports on and maintains records of observations.
• Assists with planning of recurring and non-recurring activities, special events and joint military and civilian community undertakings to make maximum use of facilities, services and other resources. Prepares and implements specialized programs for youth with special needs.
• Provides technical guidance and leadership to junior employees assigned to assist with program activities and participates in special projects.

(1) Leader Duties:
a. Assigns work orders to specific crewmembers and selects workers for various jobs on the basis of knowledge, skills, and abilities. Passes on to workers instructions received from the supervisor, demonstrates proper work methods, and starts work. Insures that needed plans, blueprints, material, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations. Works along with other workers and sets pace performing non-supervisory repair work of the same kind and level as that done by the group led. Work performed by the incumbent involves troubleshooting, maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical, and automotive vehicles.
b. Assures that there is enough work to keep everyone in the work crew busy. Checks work in progress and when finished for compliance with supervisor's instructions, work orders, and established shop procedures on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines; and directs or advises other workers to follow supervisor's instructions and to meet deadlines. Answers workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives. Interprets work instructions and assists lower graded repairers or trainees in the more difficult and complex tasks. Provides information to the supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems. Assures that safety and housekeeping rules are followed.

(2) Non-Supervisory Duties:
a. Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and major repair on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical, and automotive vehicles. This may include self-propelled artillery, tracked cargo and personnel carriers, road graders, mobile cranes, front loaders, bulldozers, power shovels, tanks, tracked combat vehicles, all terrain vehicles, semi trailers, forklifts, tractors, and accessory equipment. Troubleshoots, repairs and/or overhauls, as a regular and recurring duty, a variety of the mechanically complex major systems to include internal combustion engines, turbine engines, automatic and non-automatic transmissions, heavy duty drive line systems, and hydraulic utility systems and controls, cross drive or similar multi-system transmissions and a variety of intricate fuel injection systems. Makes repairs and modifications to assemblies and components such as voltage regulators, generators/alternators, brake cylinders, etc., for use or placement in systems for which they were not specifically designed. Improvises work when standard procedures do not apply.

b. Troubleshoots equipment with a variety of the mechanically complex major systems and diagnoses difficult performance problems and the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks, uses test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges and computer diagnostic tools. Utilizes embedded diagnostics in equipment and a wide variety of specialized original equipment manufacturer system analyzers in order to determine the exact nature or extent of repair. Determines what adjustments may be necessary to complete work orders, and whether any additional repairs other than those specified or indicated on the work order are necessary.

c. Removes and disassembles engines and complex major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems. Makes the appropriate repairs, overhaul, or modifications in accordance with the proper repair specifications and procedures, and improvises repair techniques when standard procedures are not available. Reassembles engines and other systems, and adjusts, tests, and reinstalls in vehicles and equipment as necessary. Makes adjustments and repairs to electrical and suspension systems. Repairs equipment with a variety of interconnected systems to include state of the art electrical and electronic, fuel injection, interconnected gear reduction, multiple engines, and similarly complex systems. Improvises, substitutes, or alters components or parts to fit into systems for which the items were not specially designed or finds other ways to correct defects when existing methods and procedures do not give desired results.

d. Independently performs repairs and maintenance functions with little or no supervision in remote locations. Provides technical guidance and specialized team leadership to lower grade employees within the team. Assists lower grade mechanics in performing major repair work on interconnected complex systems such as electrical, air and hydraulic systems, complex state of the art electrical and electronic systems that use specialized diagnostic equipment to identify problems, complex fuel injection systems and other similar complex systems. This position functions in the clinical associate role in the primary care clinic, which utilizes a Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model. The PACT ICT is responsible for providing direct and/or indirect patient care to an assigned group of patients. She/he will have the knowledge, skill and experience to carry out assignments involving point of care testing, providing treatments and vaccinations, performing diagnostic studies, and patient/family education. The ICT demonstrates active collaboration and communication with Patient Aligned Care Teamlet (Patient, Primary Care Provider, RN Care Manager and Administrative Associate) and Larger Team (family/caregiver, internal and community-based services and disciplines involved in providing care to the patient). This is the full performance level for the ICT position. This is a bargaining unit position.

Major duties include:

• The incumbent assists outpatient licensed staff with the delivery of care to patients with complex, specialized, and potentially life-threatening situations.
• Performs observation-based screening and collecting patient information in collaboration with licensed personnel.
• Completes approved templates and tools, such as the outpatient intake form, normal result notes, and follow up treatment protocols established by the agency.

• Provides civil engineering technician field assistance in support of NRCS conservation activities. Prepares detailed construction drawings for complex (Class 4 and above) engineering projects.
• Performs engineering surveys utilizing state-of-the-art global positioning system (GPS) technologies.
• Provides NRCS technical support and training leadership for computer-aided drafting and design software (CADD) users.

The Aviation Safety Inspector (ASI) receives administrative direction from management in terms of broadly defined missions or functions. The ASI, mostly independently plans, designs, and carries out programs, projects, studies, or other work. The ASI provides policy assistance to field level ASIs on difficult or complex policy interpretations. The work is normally accepted without change. Completed work may be reviewed for adherence to FAA policy and for assurance that project requirements have been fulfilled.

ASIs at the FG-13 level issue certificates to and monitor (1) a large and complex aviation organization or (2) a number of smaller organizations that, together, are comparable in complexity to one large one. They are the primary contact point with the aviation organization(s). They may decide on issuance of the original certificates. They evaluate and decide upon proposals to change the authorized programs of the organizations. They continuously monitor the activities of organizations to determine whether they are following their authorized program, Federal regulations, and good safety practices.

FG-13 assignments are characterized by one or more of the following:

1. Commercially operated aircraft or and the complex avionics equipment associated with such aircraft;
2. A variety of maintenance operations with diverse types of aircraft; or
3. Novel and complex aviation operations.

FG-13 employees plan and conduct their assignments with substantial technical independence. They receive administrative and policy guidance from their supervisors and policy makers. They also obtain technical advice from higher-level inspectors who are experts on a particular type of aircraft or who have overall program responsibility. They independently plan and carry out a work program to meet the needs and monitor the activities of the organizations for which they have certification responsibility. The scope and complexity of the work program may be such as to require the occasional assistance of other employees to conduct inspections and evaluate operations.

The ASI applies a mastery knowledge level of the appropriate specialization and a broad knowledge of the line of business mission and goals to assigned programs and areas of responsibility.

The ASI plans and directs the use of time and resources to accomplish organizational objectives. He or she defines, organizes, and uses resources to accomplish work activities within established schedules, analyzes program requirements and accomplishments, and makes or directs adjustments as necessary to address organizational needs.

Guidelines and precedents are frequently inadequate for dealing with novel or complex operations. FG-13 employees understand and apply the basic principles of aviation safety and interpret the intent of the regulations.

ASIs at the FG-13 level participate extensively in the certification inspection and surveillance of highly complex air carrier operations where principal program responsibility is vested in an aviation safety inspector of higher grade. These FG-13 employees have broad authority to negotiate with carrier management and make technical determinations within the coverage of approved specifications and policy manuals.

The ASI provides guidance to field level staff to solve difficult technical issues. Resolves all but unique problems, with the intervention of management or a more experienced technical specialist. Develop plans, techniques, and policies to address current and anticipated problems and issues. Works with management to solve problems.

The ASI keeps management informed of all programs and projects and is held accountable for the technical accuracy, proper coordination, and timeliness of completed staff work. Provides staff assistance and serves as advisor to the manager on all matters pertaining to assigned tasking. Assists Safety Assurance ASIs, aviation safety technicians, and others on queries that are technical or guidance related.

• Assists in planning and execution of wildlife studies, censuses and surveys such as establishing schedules and procedures for accomplishing and reporting the work. Monitors and implement activities related to conservation, management, and/or control of wildlife. Captures, applies visual and radio tags, and gathers physiological and spatial data on wildlife.
• Assists in planning plants surveys and recommends plant management practices. Monitors and assists in control plant disease outbreaks, pest plant control, mowing/seeding activities and vegetation removal.
• Collects, assesses, and organizes biological and physical environment data from field investigations and reports findings to determine actual and potential impact on fish, wildlife or plant resources from development projects, restoration projects or habitat improvement projects.
• Use automated databases to enter, organize and perform preliminary analysis of collected field data, using standard statistical methods in preparation of wildlife and/or botany reports. Analyze and summarize biological data using a variety of database software programs or other presentation approaches, ensuring records are detailed, precise and accurately transferred (e.g., terrestrial, geologic, geographic, hydrologic, ecologic, and environmental data).
• Assist in preparing news release drafts for area media, and/or presenting informational or educational programs to individuals, local organizations, and schools.
• Operates farm tractors, light trucks, vehicles, small water craft and various other equipment such as generators, radios, radio tracking equipment, water monitoring equipment, global positioning systems and cameras. As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC, WG-5801-10, you will perform the following duties:

(1) Troubleshoots, performs maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles. This may include self-propelled artillery, tracked cargo and personnel carriers, road graders, mobile cranes, front loaders, conveyors, bulldozers, power shovels, compressors, generators, tanks, tracked combat vehicles, sedans, buses, all terrain vehicles, trucks, semi trailers, forklifts, tractors, and accessory equipment. Troubleshoots, repairs and overhauls major systems to include internal combustion engines, turbine engines, automatic and non-automatic transmissions, heavy duty drive line systems, and hydraulic utility systems and controls. Makes repairs to assemblies and components such as voltage regulators, generators/alternators, brake cylinders, etc. Performs work in accordance with modification work orders, technical manuals, lubrication orders, maintenance bulletins, regulations or management policies. May repair a variety of more complex major systems to include engines, cross drive or similar multi-system transmissions and a variety of intricate fuel injection systems.

Provides technical guidance and specialized team leadership to lower grade employees within the team. Assists lower grade mechanics in performing major repair work. May provide Field and limited Sustainment maintenance at unit locations as part of a "contact team." Recovers and evacuates inoperable vehicles from the unit location of breakdown. • Serving as a telepresenter within scope of practice during clinical video telehealth (CVT) & VA Video Connect (WC) encounters including tasks such as establishing & maintaining video conferencing connections, making introductions between patient site & provider site, following instructions of a clinician to facilitate an effective clinical encounter.
• Serving as an imager & clinical data manager for store & forward telehealth (SFT) clinical encounters including tasks such as capturing images, collecting data & transmitting them electronically for clinical review in accordance with VHA national guidelines.
• Taking measures to ensure patient care is delivered safely by following appropriate procedures for inventory management, cleaning of clinical equipment & the care environment while following all patient safety guidelines, protocols, & procedures.
• Completing standardized clinical questionnaires & templates within scope of training & applicable guidelines.
• Ensuring that patient privacy is protected by complying with all information security & patient privacy regulations.
• Receiving & scheduling requests for simple & complex intra-facility, & inter­facility telehealth appointments using an electronic resource-based scheduling system.
• Screening patients for Telehealth modality & referring patients that do not meet established criteria to appropriate care.
• Monitoring & maintaining schedules of rooms, patients, technologies, clinical providers & presenters as needed to ensure efficient telehealth operations.
• Providing patient education via approved materials.
• Supporting the Veteran in completing patient satisfaction surveys.
• Communicating effectively with clinical & administrative staff at the assigned local site & those located at remote sites of care.
• Configuring, installing, troubleshooting, cleaning, & performing minor routine maintenance of assigned telehealth technology.
• Ensuring assigned telehealth technologies are managed appropriately to include inventory, secure, ready for use, & accounted for by preparing & tracking maintenance work orders, information systems, inventory records, & communicating with the National Telehealth Technology Help Desk to facilitate troubleshooting, repair, & coordination of replacement equipment as necessary.
• Providing established education & training to Veterans, staff & providers on the use of telehealth technologies & serving as a point of contact to answer questions & address concerns related to these technologies.
• Maintaining knowledge of & skill in applying an extensive body of rules, procedures, & operations in telehealth-related technologies & a variety of computer hardware & software used for telecommunications, data entry & retrieval, record maintenance, document & report generation.
• Maintaining regular contact with other staff members & the Facility Telehealth Coordinator to work out process issues, equipment needs, problems, data collection & any other logistical issues.
• Arranging & completing test video calls with Veterans to prepare the Veterans for clinical encounters using telehealth technologies.
• Ensuring information & resources are maintained for local & remote telehealth providers so they can effectively execute contingency & emergency plans.

• Collects, prepares, evaluates, and verifies samples and supporting records.
• Maintains records and locates and compiles data from various sources.
• Keeps detailed records of experimental data.
• Performs routine and recurring techniques and studies using a variety of specialized equipment.
