• Allocates space, budget and personnel resources within the divison.

As a LEAD PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST at the GS-1035-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:

• Leads the editing and dissemination of news, photos, biographies, fact sheets and informational materials to the public or specialized target groups within a domestic or foreign setting on multiple platforms, including AF.mil, SpaceForce.mil, AirmanMagazine.af.mil and via flagship Air Force and flagship DAF social media accounts.
• Develops and monitors short- and long-range strategic and operational plans for Air Force, Space Force and DoD news stories, information products, online magazine articles and images.
• Coordinates content plans across a multi-functional team to communicate key Department of the Air Force issues, policies, initiatives and objectives and effectively increase audience awareness, understanding, participation and support.
• Supports DOD by identifying appropriate DMA resources, audiences and platforms to communicate DAF themes and messages to a broad DOD-interested audience in support of command information goals.
• Provides context and recommendations to DMA and OSD/PA personnel and leaders on communicating with the DOD and defense.gov audience on a broad spectrum of defense and national security topics including: defense strategy, climate issues, military force structure, personnel, readiness, total force integration, quality of life, operational concepts, defense reform and defense infrastructure.

Title:

KBR is currently recruiting for a Technical Writer to join our team at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD to support our customer, Project Manager Intelligence Systems & Analytics – Army (PM IS&A).  

This position is contingent upon award.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Provides technical writing support for program office.

• Identify, plan, and revises technical writing project requirements and deliverables.

• Works with program/project teams to develop various engineering specifications, field procedures, and software and hardware user documentation. 

• Organizes material and complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. 

• Meets with various groups to discuss documentation requirements and gather data to be included in the documents. 

• Reviews government standards to verify and update documentation to conformance. 

• Tracks product updates and ensures that they are reflected in the documentation. 

• Participates in team meetings and contribute to the establishment of improved documentation processes. 

• Works with technical resources to improve document quality and usability. 

• Additional duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in English or related area required.

• At least five (5) years direct experience of applicable military standards, specifications and test practices is required.

• Eight (8) years of quantifiable technical writing experience may substitute degree.

• Detailed-oriented with excellent technical, verbal, and written communication skills.

• Experience must demonstrate the ability to conceptualize, format, structure, write, edit and finalize technical manuals, orders, specifications, modification work orders, and test plans, procedures and results.

• Direct experience in writing, editing and managing technical documentation and operator/maintenance manuals for military systems and equipment.

• An active secret level clearance is required.

Travel:

• Less than 10% travel is expected for this position.  Travel may include continental United States and outside continental United States locations.

Work Environment:

• This position will be co-located with the customer and other contractors in Government office spaces.

Contract requirements will prevail regarding education and experience.
