Agincare have an exciting new opportunity for a Bid Writer to join our expanding Bids and Commercial department in our head office in Portland, Dorset.
This is a permanent, full-time role. We are able to offer remote working to the successful candidate. There will be some requirement to travel to Portland, Dorset, where our head office is based.
Salary of up to £50,000 per annum, depending on relevant experience and transferrable skills to this opportunity.

About the role
As the Senior Bid Writer, you will play an integral role in achieving the Company’s growth objectives by supporting the Bid Manager to develop the bid writing function/process and deputises in their absence. Day to day, you will support the business throughout the bid process and deliver compelling content that is line with the Company’s brand, position and processes.
Your primary duties will include the following:
- Take ownership for the tenders allocated and effectively manage the completion of method statements/other relevant activities from start to finish, within dedicated/tight timescales.
- Project manage own activity, in line with department bid plans.
- Taking a proactive role in the writing of standard content, CVs, case studies, capability statements and project profiles - closing gaps where possible by interviewing/questioning relevant Subject Matter Experts across the business.
- Researching and conducting a deep dive of regulatory requirements, project scope, specifications and service requirements, customer strategy documents, local initiatives, competitor analysis.
- Working with internal stakeholders not limited to Operational leads, Commercial leads, Marketing team, Directors, and many others.
- Ensuring that consistent quality and methods of content creation are used.
- Leading answer planning/storyboarding sessions with technical and commercial teams to understand the question or scoring mechanisms, and obtain any input needed.
- Create any relevant appendices required to support the method statements or other elements of the bid.
- Proofreading and copy-editing content.
- Identifying opportunities, synergies and added value in bids and with the writing process/function. Threading strategic objectives and win themes throughout responses.
- Ensure effective version control of the method statements and supporting appendices, in liaison with the Bid Administrator.
- Support the presentation team/s with preparation for presentations/interviews and creation of PowerPoints/other documents. May involve participation in presentations as part of a presentation team, where required.
- Deputise for the Bid Manager on occasion and lead on team meetings where required.
- Lead on developing and maintaining the method statement and evidence library across the different Agincare companies, to include building a strong library of case studies, quotes/testimonials, statistics, graphics and any other evidence that adds value to bids.
- Engage with any professional development, learn from internal/external feedback and ensure improvements are implemented within tender responses and processes.
- Support the business in any other tasks required, for example business proposals.
About You
- Previous experience as a bid writer preferably with experience gained from the Health & Social Care sector.
- The ability to multi-task and manage your time effectively to deliver within often tight deadlines.
- You will have excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- You will have excellent communication skills and a proven ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
- You will have excellent writing abilities, proven IT skills (in particular, Microsoft Office), and research skills.
- The ability to work independently whilst effectively using your own initiative.
- You will need to be highly self-motivated and proactive.
- Have an awareness of social care policy/sector (desirable but not essential) and willingness and commitment to learning about the care industry quickly.
