Your new role
As an Engineering Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in our Purchasing team, driving procurement activities across the business. Your main responsibilities will include negotiating and placing orders for machined components and other direct and indirect products, ensuring that delivery and quality requirements are met by suppliers to meet project deadlines. You will support the implementation of new strategies, policies, and procedures, and become a key stakeholder in the supply chain management process.Key Duties:
* Source and procure materials, components, and services in line with project requirements.
* Negotiate contracts, prices, and terms with suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
* Monitor and manage supplier performance to ensure timely delivery and quality standards.
* Collaborate with engineering and production teams to understand material requirements and specifications.
* Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.
* Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
* Stay updated with market trends and new products to ensure competitive advantage.
What you'll need to succeed
* Proven purchasing experience within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
* Understanding of engineering drawings and basic manufacturing processes.
* Previous experience of dealing with procuring Machined Parts and dealing with Sub-Contract suppliers regarding plating and finishing of components.
* Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and internal departments.
* Highly proactive, enthusiastic, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong attention to detail, with an impeccable, thorough and accurate approach.
* Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure.
* Full clean driving licence.
Desirable:* Ideally, MCIPS qualified or working towards.

* Early Friday finish - 37-hour working week (Monday to Thursday 8.00am - 4.30pm, Friday 8.00am - 1.00pm).
