The Procurement Engineer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the supply of materials, equipment, and services needed for engineering and technical projects. This role involves working closely with suppliers, internal teams, and project teams, to ensure that procurement activities align with project timelines, budget, and quality standards.
- Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure quality and reliability.
- Procurement Process: Develop strategies, issue purchase orders, and monitor deliveries to meet project requirements.
- Technical Collaboration: Work with engineering teams to align procurement with technical needs and resolve issues.
- Cost & Quality Management: Negotiate prices, analyze market trends, and ensure materials meet quality standards.
- Compliance & Documentation: Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and ensure all activities comply with regulations and company policies.
- Risk Management: Manage risks related to suppliers, market changes, and project timelines.
Education: Diploma/ Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in procurement, in an engineering or technical environment.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in procurement software and ERP systems.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP).
- Experience with international sourcing and supplier management.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
Work Environment:
- Primarily office-based with occasional travel to supplier sites and project locations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
