Your new role
As a member of the FM procurement team, you will work closely with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to understand and deliver a variety of Hard FM service solutions. You will manage one direct report with a dotted line of 4 regional buyers. You will work closely with the Head of FM Procurement and Senior Category Manager to develop and implement category strategies to improve the service and cost-effectiveness of the Hard FM category.

What you'll need to succeed
You will need to have extensive knowledge of the FM category, with an in-depth understanding of Hard FM services. You should have experience working within a large matrix organisation and be able to effectively engage and influence both operational and head office stakeholders. You should have experience of managing and developing teams. You should be able to commit to weekly travel to client sites across Greater London to help understand client needs and deliver solutions.

Support the management of all aspects of Data Administration within the Trust (Acute and Community). Demonstrating excellent communication skills, forming a deep understanding of wider customer and organizational needs. Develop and document the Trust data warehouse to a professional standard. They are now looking for an experienced Senior Buyer with a strong background in chemicals to join their dynamic team in Manchester.

Your new role
As a Senior Chemicals Buyer, you will play a crucial role in the procurement team, focusing on sourcing and negotiating with suppliers to ensure the best quality and pricing for the company's chemical needs as part of their manufacturing process. You will be responsible for managing Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and maintaining strong communication with various production sites. This role requires semi-regular travel to meet with stakeholders and suppliers across Europe, approximately 1-2 times per month.

Key Responsibilities:
- Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure the best quality and pricing for chemical products.
- Manage the end-to-end RFQ process, from initial request to final supplier selection.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with production sites to understand and meet their chemical material needs.
- Travel to Europe (1-2 times per month) to engage with key stakeholders including colleagues in European offices, as well as suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality.

What you'll need to succeed

Extensive background in chemicals procurement with a proven track record.- Strong negotiation and communication skills.- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.- Willingness to travel to Europe regularly.- Experience with RFQ processes and supplier management.- Proficiency in procurement software and tools. Responsibilities for the Senior Buyer will include:

Main point of contact for all material and equipment suppliers

Onboard approved subcontractors, checking documentation

Setup and maintain electronic price files for all material and equipment suppliers

Agree and monitor supplier credit terms

Working alongside the commercial manager, agree commercial terms

Monitor and record performance of key suppliers

Liaise with operational managers and commercial staff to identify procurement needs

Benchmark suppliers by competitive tender or market research

Represent procurement mobilisations of new R&M contracts, including demobilisations

Maintain a register of hired plant and equipment

Attend mobilisations of new contracts, also demobilisations at end of contract

Develop relationships with suppliers

Research new products and new legislation in the sector

Support stock taking materials when needed

Liaise with the finance team to resolve price queries

Represent group procurement for planned and project work

Ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental requirements for products

What we are looking for in our ideal Senior Buyer:

Experience working as a Buyer/ Assistant Buyer & CIPS Qualifications. Have good knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Proficient in using IT systems, including Microsoft office software in particular Outlook, Word and Excel. Good analytical skills. Effective communication skills, good time and priority management, problem solving skills, confident in decision making, ability with deal with high volumes and good people skills.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Procurement and SRM Partner to join the Guinness Team. This is a permanent, full-time vacancy based in our Oldham, Bower House office. We are currently working to a hybrid working style, working 2 days per week in the office and 3 from home.
