TECHNICIAN
(Design & Technology and Art – plus other departments as required)
B&NES Grade 2 £20,686 per annum minimum starting salary)
Required as soon as possible, a Technician to provide technical and administrative support and practical assistance, primarily to the Design & Technology and Art departments but with flexibility to support other departments as required.
Having achieved the best results in the school’s history in summer 2023, followed by a visit from Ofsted in May 2024, where we were judged as a strong ‘Good’ in all areas, Buckler’s Mead Academy is going from strength to strength.
A vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic Technician. The post is 37 hours per week, term time only plus 2 additional INSET days. The successful candidate should be confident in the use of technical and practical equipment and with an interest in design, technology, art and craftsmanship.
Main Duties and Responsibilities include:
Preparing classrooms and workshops for use by staff and students, ensuring a safe and tidy working environment
Assisting and supporting teaching staff in delivering practical activities in lessons
Working with teaching staff in the creation of teaching resources and materials
Maintaining, cleaning and repairing equipment (seeking specialist assistance when necessary) in order to ensure safe and efficient operation

Following the internal promotion of one of our technician team, a new opportunity has arisen for a flexible and resourceful Science Technician to join our team at Holyrood Academy, playing a crucial role in supporting the wider Science department with preparation and assistance with Science-related materials as well as facility maintenance.
Job overview
You’ll be responsible for the preparation of a range of materials and apparatus for the Science curriculum within teaching rooms for academic staff and students. As well as this, you’ll take pride in ensuring Science facilities are maintained to a high standard, conforming to Health and Safety standards whilst also assisting in auditing the use of facilities and equipment and maintaining the equipment stores.
