1. Support the Lead Nurse of R&D with ensuring service objectives are met and deputising for lead nurse as required. 2. Responsible for the efficient management of processes e.g. complaints within research, training and development; appraisal and patient recruitment. Undertake bleep-holder responsibilities for R&D as required. 3. Utilise information and IT systems to produce accurate and timely workforce and resource data and reports. 4. Responsible for development, implementation and evaluation of projects to improve patient care and service development through the audit cycle, linking to the clinical governance and research governance frameworks and business planning process. 5. Undertake occasional direct workload requiring moderate to high physical effort according to patient dependency or staff need. 6. Demonstrate through effective leadership the ability to provide professional and emotional support to individuals and groups, e.g. during difficult situations or unexpected events. 7. Accountable for maintaining a clean, safe environment ensuring adherence to Trust standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control at all times.8.Responsible for adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy and Divisional objectives designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from clinical and non-clinical risk and known hazards. The post holder will be employed by the Research and Development Department (R&D) to work within the Midwifery research team predominantly, though there may be a need to work flexibly across several research speciality teams as service requirements dictate. They will contribute to the provision of a clinical research service based normally at the location of the employing organisation (UHCW NHS Trust); however, travel to other sites may be required as per study requirements or set out under contractual agreements for the delivery of a local cross cutting clinical research service. Support Research Midwives, Nurses and Physicians by assisting in the planning and conduct of all types of research studies. Adhere to trial protocols and work in accordance with ICH GCP and Trust Standard Operating Procedures. Manage and co-ordinate own portfolio of uncomplicated studies, not requiring qualified medical/ nursing intervention in accordance with the relevant Local, National and International guidelines. Use databases to access patient groups to improve patient opportunity and recruitment to trials. Identify/screen patients for studies and registers/ enrol patients into these studies, ensuring informed consent is in place. Co-ordinate and manage a portfolio of non-interventional research studies in line with protocol ethics approvals. Coordinate the follow up of an identified caseload of trial patients with minimal supervision. Day to day maintenance of patient records whilst the trial is in progress, data entry onto electronic or paper based case records forms. Assist in the preparation of and participate in monitoring visits, and respond to data queries. The Coventry Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) is a part of a national programme funded until 2027 by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). It aims to increase the use of research in councils, so services are better and fairer and can help people have better life chances.

The multiskilled HDRC team is based in the Public Health Department of the council. The team is responsible for developing and managing the work programme of the HDRC, working with the Coventry University, the University of Warwick, as well as other partners from the community and voluntary sectors, NHS, other councils and universities.

What is the job role?

We are looking for a Project Assistant to work as part of the Coventry HDRC.

The important role will support the Coventry HDRC team in organisation, coordination and administration of key functions of HDRC. The role will ensure the smooth running of the require working with people from a range of organisations including universities, hospitals as well as statutory and voluntary agencies.

There is opportunity to help develop new processes such as the management and advice to research projects.

It is a 2-year fixed term contract/secondment with possible extension.

Who are we looking for?

• You’ll have significant experience in project support and admin duties.
• Experience in communicating with internal and external stakeholders, at all levels.
• You’ll be skilled at prioritising work, managing time and working autonomously under pressure to deliver to deadlines.
• You’ll be creative, proactive, and have experience in problem-solving and quick decision-making, whilst dealing with competing priorities.
• You will enjoy helping develop and learn new project and administrative processes to help the programme and service run smoothly.
• Excellent skills with Microsoft Word Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
• Someone keen to develop and learn new knowledge and skills in a supportive team environment.
