The Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Research Technician to join the Rheumatology research team at the Institute of Genetics and Cancer. The post holder will have extensive experience in skeletal joint biology and arthritis research, and enthusiasm to support an internationally competitive research programme which builds upon or shows synergy with those of other research groups at the University of Edinburgh. The post holder will also contribute to daily supervision of laboratory students.

This is an open-ended (i.e. permanent) post and is full-time (35 hours per week).

Your skills and attributes for success:

Extensive experience in skeletal joint biology and arthritis research, and with histology and microscopy techniques relevant to the area of research.
Ability to optimise and validate laboratory techniques.
Proven ability to contribute to writing manuscripts and reports.
Experience in the provision of day-to-day supervision of laboratory students.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.

We are looking for a proactive and motivated Research Bid Development Executive to join the University of Edinburgh’s new Strategic Proposals team. As such, they will have a vital contribution towards meeting the goals of the University’s ambitious Research and Innovation 2030 Strategy.

The Opportunity:

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to support the embedding of the Strategic Proposals team, which is core to the University’s newly launched Research & Innovation 2030 Strategy. The post holder will primarily support University applicants leading strategic international proposals to be submitted to prestigious schemes such as the European Research Council (ERC) calls. They will work closely with colleagues from across Edinburgh Research Office, as well as broader research support services including those in Schools, Institutes and Colleges.

Your skills and attributes for success:

Exceptional writer and communicator, with experience of working in a research environment (e.g. as a PhD student, researcher or research support professional)
Experience of successfully supporting the development, review and submission of competitive grant applications for external funding

Our research team at the Centre for Reproductive Health are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to support a clinical research group working on developing methods to preserve and restore fertility in males treated for childhood cancer.

The Opportunity:

The post offers an opportunity to join a dynamic research group within the recently opened Institute for Regeneration and Repair. The successful applicant will support all aspects of our experimental work aimed at developing strategies for fertility preservation in children with cancer. This post is advertised as full-time (35 hours per week).

Your skills and attributes for success:

Undergraduate degree in a biological science subject. Trained in animal research with current/previous Home Office personal licence.
Competence in cell culture, genetic manipulation (e.g. siRNA, CRISPR/-Cas9), RNA and protein extraction, hormone assays, Western and qRTPCR analysis, histological analyses including advanced imaging methods.
Evidence of ability to integrate disparate methodologies.
Proven ability to work to deadlines.
Knowledge of Health and Safety and GM regulations.
