The Central Virginia Veterans Affairs Health Care System, Richmond VAMC is looking for a Registered Nurse into the role of SCI/D RN Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse in the Spinal Cord Injury Unit, off tour, and alternating/weekend shifts.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
-The Spinal Cord Injury and Disorders (SCI/D) RN Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse is directly responsible to the designated manager in the assigned area; the registered nurse is responsible for the prevention, health maintenance, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitative nursing care to a culturally diverse veteran SCI/D patient population with disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems.
-Participates in the interdisciplinary plan of care.
-Participates in wound care rounds.
-Maintain records of wounds, both present on admission and hospital-acquired.
-Make recommendations for wound ostomy continence patient needs.
-Provide staff education related to wound ostomy and continence nursing care.
-Provides extensive patient education.
-Participates in telehealth conferences for patients with wound, ostomy, and continence needs.
-Assist in choosing and ordering hospital supplies including beds, mattresses, wound care dressings, etc.
-Participate in biannual prevalence and data collection.
