The post holder will work closely with the principal investigator, clinical and research teams to co-ordinate and deliver research within the Paediatric Clinical Trials unit, NIHR Biomedical Research Centre at Moorfields Eye Hospital. The post holder will deliver a high standard of clinical care and be able to work as an independent autonomous practitioner. Research specific duties, include: To be responsible for co-ordinating and delivering research trial within the Paediatric Clinical Trials unit, NIHR Biomedical Research Centre at Moorfields Eye Hospital and UCL Institute of Ophthalmology. Undertake the screening, identification and recruitment of eligible participants to relevant trials according to trial protocol and organisation SOPs. Provide relevant information to prospective participants and taking of informed consent (and assent where appropriate). Deliver a high standard of clinical care, while adhering to research protocol, for all patients eligible for and recruited to clinical trials. Adhere to the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP). Manage the clinical trial documentation including maintenance of site file(s). Provide orthoptic support, where necessary, to clinical trials within Moorfields Clinical Research Facility. Act as research contact regarding paediatric clinical trials for both patients and the wider clinical team. Maintain good and open communication with the clinical team to facilitate the identification and recruitment of potentially eligible participants. Maintain accurate and detailed record keeping in format adhering to trial protocol and local SOPs. Present research findings at relevant scientific meetings. Provide orthoptic input to the development of protocols and grant applications. Network with other researchers and build collaboration. Facilitate effective communication or research study information with all relevant research team. Have a high level of computer literacy and basic programming. The post holder will assist in strategic development for portfolio research in central and east London but particularly at Barts Health.

About us

The National Science and Media Museum is undergoing a radical transformation ready to inspire millions of visitors to Bradford City of Culture in 2025. Huge changes will be delivered through a £6 million capital project called 'Sound and Vision', including two new galleries, a new passenger lift and improvements to the main entrance.

The new Sound and Vision galleries, accompanied by a programme of activities, will showcase key objects and stories from our world-class collections of photography, film, television, animation, videogames and sound technologies.

We are now recruiting for an Audience Researcher (Sound and Vision) to join the Audience Research and Advocacy team at the National Science and Media Museum in Bradford on a fixed-term contract (until December 2025), working 35 hours per week.

About the role

As an Audience Researcher (Sound and Vision) you will conduct audience research to support the development of the Sound and Vision galleries, learning resources, programmes, events and activities. Using evidence-based findings, you will make recommendations and provide advice for relevant teams at the National Science and Media Museum, and across the Science Museum Group, about the needs, wants and expectations of the project's target audiences.

You will be working with colleagues across the Museum to engage people across Bradford with the development of Sound and Vision, feeding back evidence-based findings from your research and testing to internal teams and external contractors. You will be an advocate for audiences needs, wants and expectations to key stakeholders including the Sound and Vision project team and external contractors to support the development of the galleries.

About you

Joining us you will be an effective communicator, with good interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with members of the public. You will have an understanding of a range of audiences and their potential access requirements.

Crucially, you will understand qualitative research methods and be able to work well as part of a team, with the ability to influence colleagues' ways of thinking. You will be a good problem solver, able to work on several projects simultaneously to enable you to meet to tight deadlines.
